My apologiez for bumping up an old topic. I do have a blooper to add. Or for should I save a save the scene moment. In the episode The Prize. When Jon(Jason) and Eric (Ben) are running after the greesed pig with the crowd running after them. When they stop and catvch the pig Jon stops on balls of his feet trying to keep from falling over on that pig. Watch the actor who is playing the sheriff grab his arn to help steady him why he is talking. Good one! And, ya know what, you're new and probably didn't go back to read the zillion old threads on this subject..... but I think you came up with a NEW ONE !! Can't wait to watch again....

I been in forums were they do not allow you start a new topic on a subject that has already been talked about. They make you go back hundreds of pages to find the old topic and add to it there. Seems rather unfair. I'm glad I do not have to do that here. It is very time consuming when you can start out fresh if you ask me.
I got another one there is a scene in either season 2 or 3 were Richard (John-Boy goes into Joe(Ike's ) store to pick up stuff. When Richard picks up the packages one of his overall straps pops open. When he got to the end of his dialoge he fixed it acting it right into the scene. Were other actors would have ignored it. To me that was pretty cool fix. What do you all think?

I think Richard Thomas is one of the best at "living the scene." I don't know that I've ever seen a critic or even a fan mention this (until now!)..... but I have always admired his way of appearing to really be there -- the sign of a really good actor. (Yup, that's me using two really's in the same sentence!)
With Richard, you see this again and again, in every role he's ever played. It's a tremendous ability.
(This one's for you, dew !)

And when Richard left the series they step Jon (Jason). It was intresting to see thme explore more in Jason than just the music. Though music is Jason and is a big part of him and the actor of course.

I always watch for little bloopers. But now I will look closer. I don't recall the doll moving in The Foundling. Will def look for that.

Though music is Jason and is a big part of him and the actor of course. I guess each and every character could have been explored more deeply, except perhaps for Mary Ellen -- they did cover her quite a bit more.... Once John-Boy was off on his own, they had more time for this, and I thought Jason's wartime exploits and behavior rounded out his character nicely, not to mention Toni! Somehow, I don't think Ben's marriage brought him out very much -- it was more about Cindy. Erin's whole "career-thing" and her various romances didn't really delve into her personality very much -- they were more just anecdotal. Jim-Bob's rebellious nature and bad-boy-image as he aged were fun to watch but, again, not really revealing. And, I think by the time Elizabeth was old enough for her personality to be developed, the series was waning and the scripts not as good..... Let me see, have I forgotten anyone? Oh, let me just mention that it made sense to cover the adults' personalities more, because (after all) an older person's psyche can be evaluated and validated more easily..... Why, oh why, do I go on like this

Thats ok I enjoyed your post. I always thought you could tell a lot about the kids by the way they got mad. John-boy would have these emotinal teary eyed dramatic fits and it was not very often. Maryellen was just plain drama queen. Suprised she didn't want to be actress instead of a doctor. Jason was the last you expect it from outside his music he was the quiet one. It seem to take a lot to get him upset and when he did he just say it out and that was it , He was done. Erin is the feel sorry for herself queen. Oh whoh is me. John-boy was always telling her to cut it out. Jim-boy was brooding type. moan groan. And Elizabeth she just look at you with those eyes and say something nasty, Supriseing the family. Oh almost forgot Ben he had yelling matches when he was mad just like their Daddy. He was regular fire ball.
Another thing I always say you can tell how long they been filming by the bottoms of their feet. If by chance you can see them in a scene. If their clean they haven not been shooting that long and if their dirty they been at it awhile.

If you watch the Runaway, look at Elizabeth's socks when she is in bed, and Jim Bob is talking with her. Her socks are SO dirty!

Reminds me of a pair of Johnboys pants. My mom calls them the dirty pants and says looks like someone beat the floor with them and they should be in the smythsonian. Everytime we watch a scene were he is wearing them, , someone says there are those dirty pants and we fall over laughing lol!

I think those pants are one of the few items that were specifically intended to make the show appear more real -- usually the characters look so bright and shiny, it doesn't look like a true rural family going through the Depression..... Love 'em ! 'Tho Elizabeth's socks weren't intentional, that's probably how the character's real socks would have looked !!

In "The Changeling, I noticed in one scene when Kami's (Elizabeth) rocking chair in her bedroom starts jumping up and down, you can actually see the clear (though visible) fishing lines that are attached at one end to the rocking chair which is apparently being puppeteered at the other above the line of sight of the television viewers.
