Dear Fellow Walton Fans: What a memorable, upclose look at the cast, crew and set of the Waltons in LA this past weekend! The consistent message from all who have worked with Earl Hamner is that he and his work changed their lives for the better. And I wager that we'd all agree too... So for Mr. Hamner's 90th birthday on July 10, 2013, I propose giving him a book from us, Waltons fans - around the world. I want to collect your stories about how the series impacted you, moved you, changed you, inspired you - made you laugh, made you cry. Do you have a special story about a particular episode? Character? Cast member? Time at a reunion? If so, send it to me! Send me your short stories, poems, pics and art. I will compile your work, edit the book, format it and have it printed. Then, I will ship the wrapped book from all of us to Mr. Hamner to honor him on his 90th birthday! Please know that I am a professional writer - that is, I get paid to write, edit and design. So I will honor us, the fans, and make you proud of this special gift on Mr. Hamner's milestone birthday. I will provide more detail soon. Until then, please consider this proposal... I can be reached at michelle.forsythe@fedex.com and 901.340.4309.

I write as is well known, but my own Kay stories. I did amend one or two on here to be Walton stories but as they were not written for them they aren't perhaps in keeping. Good luck with this.

I would love participate. Any regulations on size of the writing or other such endeavors that are taking up?

I would love participate. Any regulations on size of the writing or other such endeavors that are taking up? Weezer 29/Peggi: Here's some more information... I want to collect your stories about how the series impacted you, moved you, changed you, inspired you – made you laugh, made you cry. Do you have a special story about a particular episode? Character? Cast member? Time at a reunion? Mr. Hamner himself? If so, send it to me! Send me your short stories, poems, pics and art. Let’s try to gather at least 90! Tell me what motivated you to travel from places like England and Germany to attend the reunion. Why you scrimped and saved to go. How your childhood was changed because of the show. Why you let your kids watch the show today when other shows are off limits. Any ideas for a title? Like the show, this book will be a collaboration! – No, you won’t get paid. But you’ll get the satisfaction of honoring the great storyteller with your story on his milestone birthday. * I will compile your work, edit the book, format it and have it printed. * Then, I will ship the wrapped book from all of us to Mr. Hamner to honor him on his 90th birthday! STORY GUIDELINES: * Non-fiction * Maximum of 1,200 words * Deadline – December 31, 2012 1. Tell an exciting, sad or funny story about something that has happened to you or someone you know as a result of watching the show in general, or even better – a specific episode. 2. Tell your story in a way that will make Mr. Hamner laugh, cry or be overwhelmed with joy. Don’t leave anything out — how did you feel? 3. Be sure to describe your situation, the action taken and the result – such as a lesson learned or a positive change. 4. Be real! Be authentic! We want to shower him with appreciation for his work. If you want to contribute, send your story to earlhamner90birthdaygift@gmail.com. **SHHHHHHHHHH! Don’t let Mr. Hamner know about our forthcoming gift!**

Hi there, I have been working on this all day in my head. Finally finished it. Here goes:
Grandpa smiles with gleaming eyes, Grandma's strong yet small in size. Pa with his rugged handsome looks, Ma at the stove working wonders as she cooks. John-Boy whom all the girls do swoon, Jason's penning another tune. Mary-Ellen the tomboy always glows with a tan, Ben, he is charming, a true lady's man. Erin's so pretty with those eyes and that hair, Jim-Bob's so funny, dreams of flying in the air. Last of all is Elizabeth, who's as cute as can be. I give you The Waltons, and how they seem to me.
Hope you like it!

I have merged the messages from the other 2 threads with this one, and I've made this post an announcement so that it shows up at the top of all the boards here on the forum. That way people won't be replying to 3 different threads.
Jerijet, I am still in California, and I was on the forum using an ipad yesterday, so there wasn't a lot I could do about the 3 threads. The ipad doesn't give me all the administrator options that I have with the computer. I now have my laptop set up in a hotel room, so I was able to merge the 3 threads into one, then delete the other 2. I didn't want anyone to delete anything until I was able to merge the threads.
To the original poster: I think this book is a wonderful idea, and I hope you get a huge response. I will do all I can to get the word out, and I will surely write something for the book as well. I would love for the book to be available for purchase. Is there a chance that might happen? Thank you!

I will have to say that Earl Hamner is one of the kindest gentlemen that I have ever met. I told him, while standing on the front porch of The Waltons house that he had brought joy to a lot of people and he replied, I didn't realize that there were so many people that still enjoy this. I said, Oh yes. Hey, let me make everyone jealous in fun. I have Earl's bottle of water that he drank from while on tour at the Warner Brothers Ranch. I took a sip out of it and said, I now have Earl's DNA. I put my name tag on it and kept the water that was left in it and I will always keep it for a conversation piece. Ha ha. Top that one. LOL Just being silly.
