Heck, I watch all kinds of stuff.
Dont knock soaps, Jeri. Ralph and Michael have both done stints onn them recently.
Could you imagine the schedule of a soap actor? a new episode every day. 5 days a week ,all year long. no hiatus every spring.
That is a tough schedule.

I made a some good money working on The Secret Storm, remember ??!! However, it IS difficult for me to reconcile a "Waltons Lover" with someone deeply "involved in" watching/following soaps...... Two quite different mindsets IMO.......

Well Jeri, I've always been a fan of both so however difficult it is for you to reconcile with it is on you! I'm very capable of having a "different mindset" as you call it to distinguish the two programs. Yes, it my be your "IMO" but this is the second time you've made brash comments about a post I've made. Before your so quick to type some arrogant remark why don't you stop and think who and how that comment will affect someone?

However, it IS difficult for me to reconcile a "Waltons Lover" with someone deeply "involved in" watching/following soaps...... Two quite different mindsets IMO....... People are capable of having a wide variety of interests. Apparently several Waltons fans here are also fans of soaps. I don't see anything unusual about that. Please don't offend them by implying that there is something wrong with their mindset.

FYI -- I was not implying that at all. I had already said I wasn't necessarly knocking soaps.... I can't help it if people don't always understand my meanings..... To me, asking about differing mindsets is like saying I don't understand how someone can root for both the NY Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.....
I was hoping for some explanation, which I got, in a way..... but didn't expect to be jumped on. Sometimes I think people don't read my posts very carefully.

LOL We all watch different things at different times. Some we talk about some we dont. The mind is a changing and mysterious thing at any different time. I'm not surprised by much of anything here. Take care Waltonsportwriter

and the acting and writing on those are terrible. Well, since they switched to video -tape in teh 1980's
. The 70's stuff they did on film was a pretty decent art-form, They actually had some decent stories.

I certainly didn't intend to jump on Jerijet, and I do agree with her that perhaps some people don't understand her posts and take them as an insult when she didn't intend to insult anyone at all. The problem is, we are just reading words. We aren't hearing voice inflections or seeing facial expressions like we would if we were talking face to face in a normal conversation. I personally enjoy reading Jerijet's contributions to the forum. I think she has a lot of knowledge and experiences in her background that she can share with us. I enjoy reading everyone's posts, and I appreciate the way that, for the most part, everyone is cordial to others and we all get along so well. Believe me, that is not the case on most Internet forums. Maybe it's because we all have something in common, a wonderful TV show that entertains and teaches us life lessons every time we watch it.
My request is for everyone to please read your post carefully before hitting the "post reply" button, and try to think if there is something in it that someone could possibly take the wrong way. If there is, maybe you could reword it. Also, when reading posts, please read them carefully and try not to jump to conclusions. If you feel that someone has insulted you, it is fine to let them know how you feel about it, but please give them an opportunity to explain what they meant. Most people here do not want to hurt anyone's feelings. We won't always agree with one another, but we can agree to disagree and move on from there. After all, we are all different, and we think, write, and act differently. And that is a good thing. What if we were all alike? How boring would that be???
Thank you everyone for making this a good site where people can share their thoughts and ideas without feeling like they are going to be attacked.
Brenda

ok jeri, why do tyou think it's weird that fans of the Waltons would also like soaps?
is it a content issue?
do you think That waltons fans only watch one type of show and entertainment?
or is it a quality issue?
Do you think that soaps are not well made?

Yeah, this is a pretty polite one. trust me...
Anyway, I always thought there is no way people in Big cities and northern states would Like The Waltons.
I never thought it was possible that "city folk" would "get it", but I have met a lot of people all over who love it !!
On the flip side,I live In West Virginia, and I know a lot of people that hate it.

As I've said before I live in the south, born & raised in VA. When we pass someone on the street we smile and say hello, we stop for a funeral procession, we know & help our neighbors, we say thank you and have a nice day. It's simply the way we were raised. I can't say everybody acts this way but the majority of our community has this attitude. I have friends in CA, NY & FL, I know from some experience and their word that if they smile/speak to a stranger on the street they are presieved as strange! In FL I've been looked at like I had two heads b/c I was being friendly! I'm sure not everyone in these area's or others behave this way.
I realize everyone is different we all have our ideas & opinions, and yes it would be a boring world if everyone was the same. Especially like me. LOL But in saying that I try to be respectful & kind in every opinion I express here or otherwise. I think your rearing, life experiences & you're personality made you who you are today and I hope you can see through my "IMO" and posts that I'm respectful, easy going & kind hearted. I will turn the other cheek as mom always said to do but when that ones slaped/offended I will not be a doormat or be made to feel simple minded without speaking up. My hubby says I'm to tender hearted & shouldn't let things hurt my feelings just brush it off & go on.
I've been on some forums that were less than cordial and I no longer post or even visit the site. I've met some really nice people on this forum and enjoy their posts/games. We all love The Waltons if not we wouldn't be here, so we have that in common. We had a thread on other shows we watch & we all watch other programs besides The Waltons. Besides Days I'm a big fan of Amazing Race, LHOTP, Andy Griffith, Walking Dead, etc....I could go on & on. But the two shows I'm most attached to are The Waltons & Days of Our Lives! That doesn't mean everyone one here has to enjoy them both or that I'm any different b/c I do.
