It's quite unsettling to come across stuff like that unawares..... with no obvious link to the thread.....

Threads that go on for a long time like this one has, always go on into a totally different subject than what it started out to be.

Scroll up Jeri and you'll see where it started. Don't get unsettled over a simple conversation. This is just friendly conversation, so don't take it so seriously.

Didn't sound simple or friendly.... Sorry if I misinterpreted.

It's been mentioned many, many times before - that when The Waltons first aired, there were no VCR's, and I'm sure the writer's, the costume department, the props dept, etc., never imagined that the day would come when thousands of fans would be able to pay such meticulous attention to every detail of every episode. I think they did a great job, produced a wonderful family show for 9 seasons, not counting The Homecoming and the reunion specials. So in regards to the initial post, I don't let any of the inconsistencies intrude into my enjoyment of simply watching a GREAT program. When I do notice a blooper or something out of place, I actually find it somewhat endearing for some reason. The cast, crew, writers and all involved were only human after all. Love the episodes (all of them), even if they are loaded with screwy time lines, out of place objects, and inconsistency.

Catindakota, I agree with you. It's all right to point out the flaws, but not to the point of being so obviously upset about it. The show is 40 years old, and nothing can be done now to correct it. If it upsets a person so, watch something else.

I agree catindakota. I think they did a great job with the show and the acters were really good too. When I see a mistake or two, I kinda get a little chuckle out of it. Being an old car person, I have notice that some of the old cars have fogged up glass in them and some surface rust when they were suppose to only be a year or two old. Lots of people probably wouldn't even notice that but that hot California sun is hard on glass and paint on those old cars.

Your religion is about you and God and nobody else. You can't let other people or their actions determine how you feel about God. They are them and He is the great I AM. Kinda like saying you're a husband but not as good as you could be because you see alot of bad married couples out there. Or, I'll be your friend, but I won't be a really good friend because I see too many other people who aren't good friends. Your relationship with God is between you and Him, just like your marriage is between your wife and you and our friendship is between you and me. Don't let anyone else determine what kind of person you are. We are all stronger than that. Oh dear ... looks like I put my foot in my mouth again ... My intent in posting those Bible quotes wasn't to start a religous debate or put anyone ill at ease, but to support John Sr.'s and Grandpa's ideas of tolerance and acceptance and non-judgmentalness. I really think they had the right idea. Grandma and Olivia, like a lot of women, were more literal-minded when it came to religion, but grew more moderate (but no less religious) as time progressed. Debby, I don't see where anything you said precipitated the back and forth betweeen Marilyn and Buck. You did nothing wrong!! No reason to apologize....
Cat and Michellet -- I'm not "upset" about flaws in The Waltons but I do find them interesting and worthy of mention (and, yes, endearing). To me, it's fun to talk about. Perhaps it's my educational background or upbringing that makes me play "Devil's Advocate." I enjoy the GAME !

Child, you said nothing wrong and the conversation between Buck and I was just that...a conversation. I think things on this forum are getting a little too uptight. I don't mean just this thread in particular, but other threads too. Most of us have been here a long time and have some good conversations. If you didn't know us well you might think we were arguing, but we aren't. We're old friends and we talk about everything, which is the way it should be. Let's all relax and just have fun like we used to here. I like what Cat had to say and agree with her.

I agree with you Marilyn. Let's all calm down and have fun. Childfree23, you said nothing wrong and didn't cause any problems. Like I said before Marilyn and I have known each other for quite a while now and have discussions like this quite often so it is no big deal with us and we have had some good ones in the past, ain't we MOE?
