Everyone Invited!
Easy as pie, unless people feel they would like to do it differently, I guess it makes sense to me to start w/ episode 1 and go in order. Please post if you would rather just do random episodes. I was just thinking we could travel the journey together if we go in order, but no hurt feelings if you don't like that.
The idea is just to say whatever you feel like about that episode. Things you might comment on: the story, the acting, directing, cast, setting, what you like about it, some special background you know that others may not, you name it! We can stay on it for a week or two giving people time to do this, before moving onto the next episode. Please give me feedback if you think that timing is not good. I've never done something like this before.
Be shy or don't, write as little or as much as you like, a review or a sentence or personal reflections.
Would people prefer to start w/ The Homecoming rather than w/ The Foundling, episode 1?
I'll give a little time for feedback on what you'd most like or any ideas I haven't thought of and then we'll begin.
Thanks to all, Holly

Why not start at the begining with Spencers Mountain?

I know that Spencers Mountain is where it all started ~ however not all would have access to a copy of the film whereas alot of members do own The Waltons on DVD. That way those that wanted to watch the episode again while discussing would be able to do so.

What if there is a poll so everybody can weigh in and say where would be the best place to start

I am happy to create a poll. What do you suggest that I ask in the poll, and what should the choices be?

"What do you suggest that I ask in the poll, and what should the choices be? "
I do not want to overstep my bound because this topic was Hollygirl's idea, but I guess to decide the proper place to start, the question(s) should be: Where do we start? 1. Spencer's Mountain 2. The Homecoming 3. The Walton's Season 1 episode 1
Just my 2 cents

Holly, Thanks for offering to manage an episode-by-episode discussion group. That's a lot of work for you to monitor, continually updating the episodes as we go along. I'm grateful to you for organizing it! I promise to participate in the fun.
With Warm Walton Gratitude, Wendy

So don't worry about that. Holly

A QUESTION AND WHAT I'M WILLING TO DO FOR THIS VENTURE:
So glad this is starting. As I'm a "novice" on the board those of you who aren't might know how active the board is and what would be a good pacing, i.e. one week or 2 weeks per episode or longer? Should we do a poll on this too? It is also possible to be loose about when to put the next episode up if there is a lot of discussion going or vice versa. We can check in as we go and see how people feel as we go but I think we do need some established length of time to begin with as a structure.
What I'm prepared to do is keep track of when the next episode should go up and post it and participate. I consider myself equal to everyone in that any opinions of mine are no more valid than yours, I'm not the "mom" hehe. Feel free to contradict. I'm NOT willing to take on moderation duties in terms of keeping people in line w/ the forum's guidelines. I'm a terrible disciplinarian! If it comes to me I may offer some questions to generate discussion but may not always be able to do that. Feel free anyone to offer some of those yourself as you will have episodes that are special to you and that you feel you want to explore in certain ways. I think all of that just keeps the discussion alive.
I'm totally open at all times to changing how we run it as I don't see it as "mine" but the forum's board.
Thanks for allowing this to happen and looking forward to sharing these episodes with you. Holly

How many episodes are there? 180? 200? If there are 52 weeks in a year then all nine seasons would take almost 4 years to finish if we reviewed only one a week. Just a thought
This is going to be soooooooooooo cooooooooooool ;D

I just want it to be fun and interesting and easy to participate in so lots of people feel comfortable to jump in.

This can go any way we want it to go. Everyone, share your ideas here. Hollygirl has indicated that she doesn't want to be the 'boss' or moderator, so I guess I will make the final decision, or we could have another poll. I hope a lot of people participate.

Hi Brenda and Hollygirl. I plan to particapate. I think it is a very good idea and will be very interesting. I think I will be able to learn more about some of the episodes that I have missed. I always loved The Waltons but have'nt seen every episode because of working night shift or other events but always watched it when I could.

Maybe we should watch out for spoilers for shows we're not on yet for folks like yourself.
