Not a Waltons sighting, but a Waltons reference from the Oscar Winning Ordinary People

Do you recall Stevie, the orphan who came to visit and ended up being adopted by the blacksmith?
He was on My Three Sons this week playing a first grader who was in love with Dodie, a third grader. Now it could have been a sweet story (remember when Clarence liked Elizabeth?), but instead it was creepy. He'd stand outside her house and stare up at it and one night he snuck into the house and slept on Dodie's bedroom floor! 😱 This was a stalker in training!
And poor Dodie kept telling the adults in her life that this kid was bothering her, making her stomach hurt and making her feel creepy. And instead of helping her, they tell her SHE's wrong and to be nice to the little stalker. Then they invite him to dinner! 🤦🤦🤦 Ugh, this episode frustrated me so much.
I was once in a similar situation when I was Dodie's age. Luckily he didn't have the opportunity to stalk me, but he acted super weird around me and finally his mother told my mother he was in love with me. 🤮 If my mother had ever invited him to dinner, I would have pitched a fit!

I have been watching Dallas. Somehow I missed it years ago. Most of the Walton cast seems to be popping up in various episodes.

You ever notice we are dismissed alot as women? It's always that's sweet or cute when it's creepy I think it was more that she was a child that made them dismiss her. But either way it was wrong. Incidentally, I never stood for being dismissed at any age. For whatever reason, I landed on this earth with complete confidence and belief that I had full agency for myself and my life -- even when I was four. 😂 I'm lucky that I had parents that didn't try to completely squash that.

I like John Denver ( I know I have nerdy side ) I just found out that Rachel Longaker was in a movie with John Denver and she played his daughter. The movie is " Oh, God!"

I saw Mary Jackson (Miss Emily Baldwin) in the movie The Exorcist III.
I didn't watch much of the movie, so not sure how much she was in it. But I must admit, it was a bit jarring to see Miss Emily in such a creepy movie.

I saw Mary McDonough in an episode of The West Wing. She played a character called Beth and I believe the episode was from season 4.

Everyone knows Kami Cotler as the youngest Walton Elizabeth and that is almost all she ever did in her acting career, but there was another TV sitcom she was involved in right when the Waltons started in 1972 called Me and the Chimp. This show starred Ted Bessell who became famous from the show That Girl. The show Me and the Chimp was very short lived and only lasted 13 episodes. If it was a success it is possible that Kami would have never gone on to play Elizabeth Walton.

I saw Nora Marlowe, who played Flossie Brimmer in the Waltons, in the movie, "North by Northwest" last night! She was the housekeeper at the mansion in Glen Cove NY. What a happy surprise! It was made in 1959, and so she did look younger than when she was in The Waltons. I enjoy seeing the actors in other features, especially a Hitchcock movie! flossieskid, I think your Mom was such a great and distinctive actress, in her own right.

Livie’s friend: Thank you for your kind words about my Mom on the movie, “North by Northwest”. That role was one of her favorites. Acting with such classic movie stars as Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint and James Mason was such a thrill for her.
I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that during filming my Mom came home late one night and, although I was only 8 years old, I asked how her day of filming went? She said it was a difficult day. When I asked why, she lamented, “I had to be mean to Cary Grant!”
Hopefully, you got the chance to see the scene when Cary Grant goes to a local hotel to search for “mysterious” George Kaplan. A valet comes into the hotel room to bring some dry cleaning of Mr. Kaplan’s and speaks to Cary. That handsome young valet was my Dad!
“North by Northwest” was the only movie both my parents were in. They had no scenes together and were uncredited and residuals were not mandated by SAG until 1960, one year after the movie premiered. But, I am SO lucky, that when I miss my folks too much, I can pop in a DVD of this great movie and share in the magic of my parents acting in an Alfred Hitchcock classic!
Every once in a while, it is shown in an actual movie theater. Our daughter, Nikki, always seems to find these special showings of classic movies all over L.A. In fact, last year, Nikki took her boyfriend, Rob, to see “North by Northwest” for his very first time and it was in a regular theater. To see this wonderful movie on the big screen, as it was intended, is truly a great experience. There needs to be more classics “gems” shown on the big screen in an authentic theater. It is a crime that several generations of movie lovers today, only watch them on their phone, tablet or computer. They don’t know what they are missing!!
