Many of you are 'fairly' close by I see. Google Maps tells me it is a little over 1,000 miles for us, so we have a long trek ahead of us! We'll be in Covington, VA the night before and will take our time and poke our way those remaining 100 miles or so into Lynchburg, enjoying the sights and scenery as we go. I think Brenda and I have the shortest drive. I wish I had more time and did not have to go right back home. The next weekend I have a four day weekend. Would have been nice to stretch the visit out longer. Couldn't you plan on having a very bad cold on Monday and Tuesday?? I hear sinus infections are popular this time of year.

But schools give you the hairy eyeball when you take time off. The four day weekend is for the teacher's convention in AC. Teachers go to the convention (or are supposed to go) and the students....go to Florida! They call it Disney week! I would love to go to Shenandoah and hike a bit. That would make it back to back weekends in Virginia. We should just move there! LOL! I know you are going to Williamsburg. We went there for our honeymoon. would love to go to Shenandoah

Just sayin'

I know! I'm so excited! Also a little worried about leaving the house for that long. More specifically, leaving my almost 19 yo kitty. I have someone coming into the house, which should be far less stressful than boarding out. It's also someone she sees all the time because it's my dog walker/horse feeder, who also feeds her when I have to work in the city (she needs to be fed every few hours). I hope she'll be ok. The worst part is I get back on a Saturday and then Tues./Wed. I have to be gone for a business trip (still praying for a way to get out of that one) and the Sunday after that I'm supposed to fly out for a meeting on Monday (also praying to get out of that one). The timing for both of those trips is awful.

Hi weezer....We live just a few miles just north of Des Moines in the small town of Madrid, which is pretty much a suburb of Des Moines and West Des Moines anymore with all the growth. We are in Boone County. Where did your hubby come from in Iowa? Hubby is from The Quad Cities, Bettendorf. I have a niece in Ames at Iowa State, and a niece who just graduated from there last May. Peggi I didn't know your hubby was from Bettendorf! I grew up in the QC too but the Illinois side (Moline). Most of my family is still in the QC. Of course I'm familiar with the Iowa side as well. When I was growing up we spent a lot of time at my aunt's who lived right along the river in LeClaire. Hubby and I always stop in at American Pickers whenever we're back in my hometown visiting. Jeanne

I'm only about 60 miles North of the city (as the crow flies) and it should take us 7 or 8 hours to get to Lynchburg. We're going to try to leave by 6 a.m. on Friday. Yes, that should be amusing.
