I've seen some people say before that they like to think that The Changeling episode doesn't count and it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the show. I've also heard people say this about The Whirlwind/The Tempest storyline of Curt secretly being alive (and I do like to think that somehow it isn't REALLY Curt, since it ruins his character!). But, anyway, what I wanted to ask is this: Are there any other episodes that any of you like to discount as REALLY happening in the world of The Waltons?

Whatever episode or chapters you don't like lol. I Didn't particularly like the Townie or Dust Bowl Cousins from the first season and a lot of season 9 episodes sucked, but they were Walton's episodes so we watched followed and even like them. Iwonder how many we're a part of Earl Hamners real life. WmFan Would be interesting to know which episodes were more relevant to his life story

To repeat a question I recently asked in another thread.... Do we know if Earl has ever said whether Spencers Mtn or The Waltons is closer to his early life ?? I suspect both simply depict a "flavor".... but wonder if he attempted to make The Waltons a little truer than Spencers Mtn had been....

All the episodes mentioned above, plus the one with the ouija board, the carnival, and that crazy artist guy that Erin fell for. There's a few more too, that I skip over or fast forward through, but can't think of them now.

I don't like anything that deals with the supernatural, so The Changeling and the ouija board episodes are 2 of my least favorites. The Carnival episode was weird, and that artist was creepy. There were a couple of other events that took place in what were otherwise good episodes. In The Grandchild, I didn't like that chant that Cassie kept repeating over and over: "Look upon the face of death, never feel your baby's breath" or something like that. I do like the episode The Grandchild, though. Another event I didn't like was in the episode where Elizabeth breaks her legs and is paralyzed. That strange woman that Aimee took her to see in the middle of the night was spooky. It wasn't a bad episode, I just didn't like that part.

My most Unfavorite Walton's episodes, The Changeling, The Porttrait, the Dust Bowl cousins were strange, the Townie villain was a jerk and I liked Sissy Spacek better in her second episode the Odyssey when she gave birth a much more powerful episode for her and John Boy. A lot of the season nine episodes minus the Outrage, the Last Ten Days, the Move ad the Carousel were pretty stupid, those were good episodes. I also liked the Carnival and the Gypsies which are often picked on as poor episodes. The Ferris Wheel too.we all have different tastes lol

" Pearls" is terrible. It is BAD. It Reminds of a bad episode of The Love Boat.
I like the " Carnival" and the " Ghost story".
I am watching " Dustbowl cousins" now.
Cousin Job cracks me up. I also like The JB -Job fight.

The Curt resurrection episodes are also at the top of my list.
Another is The Abdication's version of A.J. Covington. I like to imagine it's a totally different character than the A.J. Covington so brilliantly portrayed by David Huddleston in The Literary Man.

I think everyone has at least one relative or acquaintance like Ham, who thinks he is just "down on his luck" so it's okay to take advantage of others. Cousin Job cracks me up too. Another is The Abdication's version of A.J. Covington. I like to imagine it's a totally different character than the A.J. Covington so brilliantly portrayed by David Huddleston in The Literary Man. Especially when you consider that in the closing narration of The Literary Man, Earl Hamner said something like, "We never saw nor heard from A.J. Covington again." Then he showed up a couple of years later. David Huddleston was Sheriff Bridges in The Homecoming.

Isn't it interesting how. They said things like we never saw AJ Covington again not knowing what future episodes in the tv series would bring.. In real life he likely would have never seen him again if he said so. I love how we all have our favorites . I watched thE Actress tonight a great Season 1 Episode. I also loved Season 6 the Ordeal cause I can appreciate Elizabeth getting injured and recovering after injuring my foot and shoulder this past year. I also thought Jim Bob reaching out to his sister and best friend Elizabeth as one of the most touching moments of the series WMFAN

Another one that bothers me is where the entire family is out picking apples and Mary Ellen is off in the woods with some strange man and the parents aren't concerned. That is something we would never, ever let our daughters do. It just wasn't a realistic subject for the Waltons.
Oops, just thought of the one where Sissy Spacek (sp) gives birth and then the one where the movie star stays at their house for a few days because her car broke down and chauffer took off.

The episode where the Hispanic marine comes to Waltons Mountain and Mary Ellen falls for him. He seemed more of a fling for her as he was totally not the right man for her.

I actually thought he could be quite the perfect man for Mary Ellen.... why do you think he couldn't be? They both wanted to improve the world and worked for it -- he perhaps more quietly but with more personal reasons.... It's one of my favorite episodes because it explored diversity and the pain that results from ignorance and prejudice.

I do like the episode The Grandchild, though. Apparently a genuine expression of a certain superstition, if you Google it.

As for wouldn't/couldn't/shouldn't happen, gotta go for "The Indiscretion," besides some already mentioned, notably Curt's reappearance.
Is there a universally accepted "worst episode"?
