I will be at Carolyn's with bells on. ;D I will join you in that haha
I attended this last reunion in CA and had the best time and am gonna try my hardest to get to the VA one next year. It is sad that the dates over lap and I know it said on the program that they already have some cast commitments! I can't wait to see who still hoping that Michael can attend next year *dream come true for me*
I have always wanted to go to VA too as I used to have a Great Aunt who lived in VA and a cousin who still does, and have wanted to see the mountains with their fall foliage for sometime, I love the changing colour of the leafs ever since seeing them in photos when I was younger, to me its beautiful and can't wait to see it so much better than here thats for sure haha Hopefully, it will be a good foliage-changing year for you, unlike this year..... I had intended a road trip either up north or down the Blue Ridge this year, but neither area is right for it, so will wait 'til next year..... It seems we get about one good year out of maybe four.... all depends on the late summer rainfall, early frosts, etc. -- Of course, there is always a change, just not necessarily as brilliant as it can be.

There was definitely a communication problem but there is nothing we can do about it now. I have never gone on a cruise but would like to some day! Next year will be our "15th" wedding anniversary. After we were married we attended a Walton Reunion in Virginia for our honeymoon. It was so much fun that we have been to 3 more (bringing along our children, my mother and brother). I think we will go again next year and try to bring my mother-in-law. We were supposed to go last year (2011) but my son was diagnosed with cancer and he needed us. He is in remission now and hopefully forever.
We couldn't afford to attend the California reunion this year but have enjoyed everyone's posts and pictures! Wow! What an event! It seems to be easier to get all the stars, writers, etc. to the California event because most of the folks live in that area. But there is something about Virginia this time of year. Of course as JET mentioned, this year the foliage is changing early. We are past peak in New York state.
Take Care Folks. Cindy Adler

I had planned to attend the VA reunion since it's only around a 5 hour drive. I'd love to do the cruise but that's out of my budget. I realize it's a reasonable price but living in "coal country" we're seeing thousands lose their jobs. Although my hubby is still employed thank God, it could be a different story next week.

JeriJet- I don't think having the reunion in California was an excuse to visit HOLLYWOOD as you said. It was a chance to go a Walton's reunion that those of us on the west coast may not have otherwise been able to do. Being that is was a very special anniversary, I believe it made sense to have it there as most of the cast lives in Ca. and might be more likely to attend. It was also an opportunity to have another night celebrating the Waltons (the benefit for Kami's school). I am sorry but I felt the need to respond because your email came across as quite negaative. California is a very nice place.

Hi Tina. It was nice meeting and chatting with you at the CA reunion. You may recall that we were seated at the same table with Cissy Wellman. In my opinion, you are right that having the reunion in CA was a nice chance to see more of the cast as this was the 40th anniversary of the show and to attend the benefit for Kami's school. It also gave me a chance to tour the Warners Brothers Ranch Studios with Earl Hamner and Michael McGreevey and see the exterior of the house. In addition, I think that it was quite fun going to CA to meet up with my Walton club friends, who I usually see in VA, As you said, "California is a very nice place", and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

Hi Michelle- It was nice meeting you too. You were so nice when I made a dork out of myself and got so excited that Cissy was at our table. I am glad you enjoyed Calif. so much. It was the first time I have attended any type of fan club event and it was fun. The fans and the cast were all so nice. I didn't really know what to expect, it exceeded my expectations. I am especially glad I went now that it appears there won't be anymore in Calif. Maybe one day I will get to the Virginia reuion.

I recently spoke to Carolyn also, and she is already working on the 2013 reunion in Lynchburg, Virginia. As much fun as we all had in California, it just seems to me that a Waltons event should be in the great Commonwealth of Virginia, the home and inspiration of the Waltons and Mr. Hamner. Just being in and near the places mentioned in the stories is a great feeling. The Museum, the Hamner Home, the Rockfish River, and all of Nelson County are great places to see. And yes, Virginia in the fall is a sight to see. So I am making plans to be in Lynchburg, Virginia in 2013. I hope to see all of you there I agree with you, john..... But, when I said the same thing at the time the California reunion was being decided upon, people jumped all over me !!! It seems that many folks wanted an excuse to visit HOLLYWOOD..... my only feeling was YIKES !!! I suppose for those who have never been, it might be something to see, but I also think once is more than enough..... Visiting Schuyler is so much more meaningful.... Who's the people that jumped all over you about California? I've been living California for 26 years and loving it. Hollywood is so much fun to visit the landmarks, sidewalk stars, hollywood boulevard attractions, universal studios, etc.. I have tons of young friend who like to clubbing and Hollywood is one of those popular club to hang out. I'm only about one hour and 15 minutes drive to Hollywood since I live near the coast. I have never ever been to VA and I'm looking forward next year.

for jerijet: Have you ever been to Hollywood? If not, then why did you mention that your feeling was YIKES and you think once is more than enough huh??? I'm just curious.

I have had to be in Hollywood many, many times -- mostly during the late 60's, 70's, and early 80's...... and I think my opinion is fairly common..... other than a brief sightseeing visit or two, I doubt if anyone would want to spend much time there. More recently (about ten years ago), my nephew spent about a year there and felt the same way.... On the other hand, I have a friend who owns a cocktail lounge in Hollywood and I doubt if he'd be happy anywhere else!!

I was in Hollywood last month for the very first time in my life, and I enjoyed it!! There are good and clean parts to every city, and Hollywood is no different, I saw many fancy and well kept places along the Blvd that looked stunning and beautiful, and I also saw some of the slums of Hollywood the farther we went with run down buildings and just trash everywhere, graffitti on walls and property, homeless people sleeping on the benches and digging through the trash cans, ect. ect. I would certainly move back there if I could though! I like the hustle and bustle of the big city, and meeting new people. RYAN-J

RYAN-J I wasn't saying anything about the various areas of the city -- I love many, many cities I have visited (for the culture, excitement, style, history, etc.) -- about as much as I have loved favorite rural areas.....
