Does anybody have a map of where homes and businesses were located on Waltons mountain. For instance, what is the distance from the Walton's home to Godseys store . Where is the Baldwin sisters house located from the Walton home. I know the the real town is Schuyler, Virginia but I would like to see what the area would look like.

To tonyray:
I'm not sure if you are asking about a map of the fictional Walton's Mountain or the real village of Schuyler. I'm not sure anyone has ever done a map of the fictional settlement of WM. These have been done for some programs (check The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club website for a map of fictional Mayberry) but I'm not sure about The Waltons. If you contact the postmaster in Schuyler, Va., he/she may be able to help you regarding a map of the real village. I do know that the Hamner homeplace is located very close to the "T" intersection in Schuyler with the road that forms the base of the "T" running along the side of the yard, if I remember correctly. A little further down that same road on the opposite side is the Waltons Mountain Museum (this is definitely worth a visit) containing all kinds of memorabilia about the show and the families in the area. A little further down that same road on the same side as the Hamner homeplace (maybe a quarter of a mile) is the location of the present "Ike Godsey's Store." That places the store roughly behind the Hamner homeplace about a quarter of a mile or less. I'm not sure the original one was in that location. If you stand in the Hamner homeplace front yard and face away from the house, the road that runs to the right at the top of the "T" goes by the Baptist church. It's probably just a good stone's throw or so from the Hamner homeplace. I'm not sure where the Baldwin's place was located.

I was asking about the fictional settlement of Walton's mountain. It would be great if someone could make up a map of the fictional area.

I used to be a big fan of the soap opera "All My Children", and someone once sent me a map of the fictional town of "Pine Valley". They did it just by carefully re-watching episodes and listening for clues for where places were located. For instance, they knew the "Chandler mansion" was near the boatdock, but that "Wildwind" was near the beach. So, it stood to reason that they were both on the same side of "Pine Valley": the side by the ocean!
Anyway, based on that, I'd say "Waltons Mountain" would be even easier! After all, "Pine Valley" kept growing and growing over the years... Waltons Mountain just stayed the same;)
By the way... Hi, everyone! Sorry I've been absent for so long! Hope you're all doing well.

Kelzx2 - I know the AMC map you are talking about. I believe it is posted on the Pine Valley Bulletin. I believe the web site is pinevalleybulletin.com. It is a great map. I would have no idea hwo to create something that elaborate but it certainly would be nice to have a fictional map of Waltons Mountain.

Also, how far was Rockfish, from the mtn.? Wasn't Mrs. Brimmer boarding house there?

Rockfish was about 6 miles from Waltons Mtn..... Mrs. Brimmer's house at times seems to be in Rockfish, but at other times is within easy walking distance of Ike's..... If you think about the school the kids went to (Waltons Mtn School) -- it appears that there was an actual small town of Waltons Mountain, perhaps a little further down the road from Ike's..... Other evidence of an actual town is the fact that people could make phone calls to Ike's store "in Walton's Mtn. VA" Like so many things to do with the show, it's confusing. Yet, fun to speculate about!

There is a map of Schuyler, I got mine from the Waltons' Mountain Museum. It's not very detailed, but it gives the locations of many of the names you hear about on the show.

One time I took some poster board and made a map of The Hardy Boys town Bayport. I had the ocean, all the streets for a town back then for 50,000 people, a downtown, coast roads, hills, woods, etc. But I have never done one for The Waltons, maybe I will give it a try this winter. Any ideas would be helpful.

I am in if somebody wants to get together to try to create a map. However, look at how many different ways, scenes there are just for the kids to walk to school.
Do you want to include the information from the movies as well?
