Mary It was about 15 minutes after the movie start where the whole family gathered for the holiday dinner and you can see Joe Conley sitting at the end of the table (wearing gray sweater with red napkin cover on him like a bib) next to the lady in red dress with short blond hair which you won't recognize him because he was wearing eye glasses.

Richard Thomas did a WWII-set movie called Red Sky at Morning with Catherine Burns (who later played Megan in "The Substitute." Not quite as good as the book, but I would love to see it again.
Will Geer played a lot of bad guys in his movie career. In Executive Action he plays one of the men plotting to murder President Kennedy. He also has an amusing part in a very offbeat TV movie called Isn't It Shocking? with Alan Alda.

Richard Thomas did a TV movie with Charles Bronson called, "Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus." They haven't put this out on dvd though. I don't know why it is a very good movie. I recorded it on VHS back when it premiered on TV.
Richard Thomas was also in the Stephen King TV movie, "IT" with John Ritter. Another good one!

Did anyone mention Richard Thomas in "To Find My Son" from 1980? He's a single parent trying to adapt a little boy. It also stars Steve Kanaly from "Dallas." There's a scene near the end when the child welfare people deny the adaption, and Thomas' angry reaction is worthy of an Academy Award! (OOPS! I created a spoiler!) Didn't Thomas play a bad guy stalker in a TV movie also? Ralph Waite did a TV movie at about the same time when he was imprisioned in some kind of work camp in the south. That was a good one but I don't recall the name. Mary McDonough was in some kind of horror film right after The Waltons ended but I don't have a clue as to what it was called. About all I remember is her being on a lakeside beach with a little girl. Maybe some of you can shed some light on these for us.

Ralph Waite had a small role in the movie Generation Gap on Hallmark Channel (eh hummmm). Will be run on March 7 and March 19. Plays one of old WWII soldiers.

Ralph Waite starred in "Cool Hand Luke" with Paul Newman. "Cool Hand Luke" was a 1967 big screen release about a prison,in which Paul Newman and Ralph Waite played inmates along with George Kennedy. There was a horror movie Mary McDonough starred in after "The Waltons". It was "Midnight Offerings", in which Mary co-starred with Melissa Sue Anderson (Mary Ingalls on "Little House"). Mary played a good character, opposite the evil character played by Melissa Sue Anderson.

I believe Matthew(or Michael)Reed who played the part of John Curtis was in the 1975 movie The Hiding Place---I do not know what part he played but his name appears among the credits at the end of the movie I just saw on DVD,.

Will Geer also guest starred in two consecutive Alias Smith and Jones episodes which were shown about 7 months before The Waltons began. On February 10,1972, the episode was Which Way is the O-K Corral and on February 17 the episode was Everthing's OK at the OK Corral. There are no DVD's available for this yet because it is actually the second season of the show as the series was a springtime replacement at the first of 1971.

I remember Richard Thomas was in a movie about a baby orphaned by the Korean War and the men on board a ship or a sub take care of the child. RT's character adopts the child and raises him. It's a good movie but I forgot the title.
