Deb, your garden wall is stunning. My, your husband is so talented! You have created a beautiful space; it looks so peaceful. Well, I posted a card to Judy Norton thanking her for her labor of love with her Behind the Scenes program and gave her your contact information. Let's see if the old tried and true doesn't work I logged off Facebook several years ago and haven't regretted it. I am on no social media at all. It was sucking too much time from my day, plus there was way too much anger out there. This website is my only guilty pleasure. I read your posting about your grands visiting for the weekend and it sounded so much like our 6 year old twin grands when we visit! It is so much fun but so exhausting at the same time. Ah, to have the energy of the young....We say that having grandchildren is the reward for being parents Have a wonderful day!

Lots of beautiful cacti and succulents. That must be a very relaxing place to be. And 'yes', your husband is very talented.
Is that a terrarium on the mantle?

Good Afternoon Livie's Friend, Easton and Patricia Anne and anyone else reading from Sunny Southern California! Thank you so much for the kind comments on our garden space! It has been a real labor of love and DIY!! We live in a downtown city that can get noisy and this is a "sanctuary in the city!" It brings so much joy and peace. I recently found some wind-chimes we bought years ago that are very heavy metal tubes and the sound is just beautiful. My husband also made a fountain to replace a big cracked original fountain. He started with blocks, for the base, then drilled holes in the top, bent copper tubes for the water "faucets" and purchased remnant pool tile to cover it. Then he hooked it all up to the existing plumbing behind it. If I were to confess how hard the years have been while working away on this home (which I know God called us into, because "He knew" we needed to stay focused and lean in) I'd tell you my sweet husband who didn't know what to do, just kept creating this space for me, because I just wanted to run. There is so much meaning and goodness, grace in all of it. Most importantly, recovery and restoration. I have amazing news! Judy and I have been talking and I will be on her YouTube Channel at the end of this month. We are hoping to schedule it as we both wind down on a few things. Thank you for your help and encouragement! God Bless, deb P.S. Once again I had to downsize these a lot - I shot the fountain across and through from a large table as it's hard to get it close up without distorting it and the collage is some of my treasures. Pottery from our first home, from family, seashells and agates collected from years walking on the beach in Oregon with my kids, milk glass from our daughter's wedding, old soda bottles dug up in Los Angeles on a job John was on and the work-bench he built for me. When we were first married 38 years ago he built one similar. We moved to a wind-belt, adopted a German Shepherd and between the two it was destroyed, plus I worked a lot and never had the time to appreciate it anymore. Now I'm back in the garden. It truly is a joy and a healing space.

Hi Deb,
Your mosaic is beautiful; it reminds me of when I was very young. It's very inspiring to continue doing that myself.
So happy to hear that you and Judy finally connected! Looking forward to hearing about your life and how you have found meaning in all you've been through. God is good.
I tried to add a picture of a couple of pretty plants in my garden that are thriving in spite of poor weather, but it says it's too big. That's never happened before. oh well, technology....
Have a superb day!

debgunnhewitt Deb, your fountain is beautiful! This space means so much more because of the passion, creativity, and work that went into creating it. My husband moved into my house that I already owned. The work we are doing on the house now is really special because we're doing it together. I imagine that you might feel that way about your garden. I'm so excited about your upcoming interview with Judy!! Judy is really becoming a skilled interviewer. I think you'll enjoy the experience. Have fun!! 💗😍

Hi Livie's Friend and patriciaanne,
Thank you so much! We have only had a few bbq's since we finally completed and looking forward to more get togethers! It always feels so good to get a garden done. The mosaic does have that old feeling! There's a pool tile company in the city over and it was extremely cheap remnant! Of course I was thinking about the mid-century "Atomic" blend tile and of course it was just too expensive for something so small and we felt a bit tapped out! John said "if you say mid-century one more time!!" ha ha! I got a little into it! Also, the house brings back my childhood memories. There is something very special about doing a project together, as you said Patricia! and.... the best part is that when all is said and done you realize you got along! That's not for everyone! Many people fall apart with the tiniest of re-models, so it's a true blessing! Also, Livie's friend (I should get your first name!), the thing with the older online forums, is that they aren't set-up to have large picture files or large files in general. What I had to do was go into a photo program and "re-size" down to 1 mega byte which is the maximum for the file. I was very surprised to see it pretty clear after I posted. If you have any kind of photo program on your computer you can ask it how to resize, however "save it as a new name" so you don't lose the original!
I will get back to everyone when I have a date confirmed on Judy's YouTube. I am working on my nerves!!
Have a peaceful and blessed weekend, deb ox

Hi Deb, I’m so happy to see you back in the forum. Please know that you are loved. It will be good to see you on Judy’s “Behind the Scenes of THE WALTONS.” Your garden, fountain, walk, etc., are beautiful. We also live in the city and don’t have any “green space.” We have had to make do with going to the park or my wife’s parents’ place in the country to unwind. But we give thanks to God that we can serve Him here in Ecuador. When we’re in the States, we stay at a lovely country home at Missionary Retreat Fellowship in upstate Pennsylvania, complete with bears, deer, rabbits, squirrels, frogs, woodpeckers, owls, etc. Our 11-year-old twin boys love it there. We all do. Our home away from home. Sending love to all of you out there in Waltonland!! Ned❤️🙏

Dear Ned!!
I was just about to write you an email so it's great to see you hop on here! If it weren't for you and a few other wonderful friends/fans of The Waltons, I don't think I would have had the nerve to be on Judy's YouTube! She has been so very gracious and we are officially setting it up for the 26th or the last Monday of this month. That doesn't mean it will air right away. I'm about to confirm! Can't believe it!
Your inlaw's home sounds like a beautiful place to unwind, as well as your home in PA! I LOVE nature! I bet your twins absolutely love exploring!
I am so grateful and blessed by you and friends here. You are very loved too Ned and I think of you and pray for your family often. God keep you and I will stay in touch here more often as I said. God has been so very good and He is actually turning our family around and I'm not asking questions. I have had complete trust and I know you have prayed for us. It's happening. I just want you to know!
Much love to you, Marisol and the children, deb oxox

Thanks for that information on attaching photos, Deb. I thought I had it downsized enough (and I did) but when I went to add the attachment here, it was sideways. After spending about 10 minutes trying to get it right side up, I gave up!!! That's okay, though. I'm still smiling! hahaha So looking forward to your interview. Just remember you already have so many friends cheering you on Blessings, Teri \0/ Attachments:

Hi Teri! (Livie's Friend) How beautiful! I can see you have a love for gardening!
