Well, as a card-carrying insomniac, I was just perusing several sites on my phone. Heck - maybe that’s WHY I can’t sleep! Our daughter, ( ’The Nikster’ as we sometimes call her) says there is some science that proves the backlight on phones and computers stimulate your brain so you CAN’T get to sleep easily. I don’t read those studies. Why overburden my mind with facts? So, I happened to click on something I THOUGHT was the “TV credit pages” for my Mom. Prolonged lack of sleep can impair one’s cognitive skills or maybe just plain stupidity is the more likely scenario! But, for whatever reason, I got off on a tangent.
Instead of credits, the pages were a “Birthday Tribute to Flossie Brimmer” from Inspire TV, where reruns of the Waltons play daily. However, this post was from Sept. 5th 2020 and Inspire was celebrating her birthday and asking for comments from fans, I guess. As I previously mentioned my Mom and Bob Newhart do share Sept 5th as their birthday, so the day is accurate.
I was utterly shocked - and I live in a city when my neighbor used lottery winnings to buy an 8,000 square foot house for only her and over 30 cats - AND I am married to a shrink, so nothing usually shocks me! Before you ask, no, she was NOT one of my husband’s patients!! But, I was blown away and then very touched that, the 94 fans listed on this site, were all sending my dead Mom best wishes for a“Happy Birthday in heaven.”
Perhaps I was in an altered state of unconsciousness (possessing the ability to read while standing up even though you are asleep?) so maybe I didn’t read it right, but is that really a thing?!?! To wish deceased actors and actresses best wishes on their birthday? My Mom has been dead for 44 years and would be 109 this past September IF she had lived?!?!?
I guess I am just so surprised! But, when I really think about it - how very thoughtful that fans would post wishes of ANY kind! I don’t think many other people, after their parent’s demise, are still getting birthday wishes sent to them - the DEAD person - NOT the surviving family. Maybe that is EXACTLY who the message is for really - the family members left behind? I could buy that, but this site was deeply hidden and it’s over a year old. I just found it on a fluke.
It amazes and amuses me to read their comments. I am appreciative for all the wishes and my Mom would be thrilled! Well, except for the fan who thought the BEST episode with Flossie was the one where Dr.Curt tells her she’s fat! OUCH! I think that’s kinda mean for a Walton script. Not untrue, but still kinda mean. I don’t even think CoraBeth would toss an insult like that at anyone on Waltons Mountain.
But, on the plus side, on this page, I did find out my Mom was on “Wagon Train” 7 times and “Gunsmoke” 5 times. So that good to know, right?!?! Not that those facts would EVER come up in any polite conversation, but it’s still cool to know!!

Very interesting indeed, but I have to ask if the tribute was to Flossie or to Nora?
If the tribute was for Flossie Brimmer, then I should think that the fans know your mom mainly as Flossie. I don't think it's unusual or odd that they would impose your mother's birthday onto Flossie. To them, Flossie Brimmer died when Nora Marlowe passed away. They didn't know Nora, but they knew Flossie, and wishing Flossie a Happy Birthday in Heaven is, as far as I'm concerned, a wonderful tribute to your Mom.
I hope I expressed myself properly. It's early and I haven't finished my first cup of coffee yet.
PS - Lucky find! I searched for the tribute page and came up with absolutely bupkis. Even the linked Facebook pages didn't exist anymore.

Easton, I appreciate your remarks about the birthday wishes from fans and were they to my Mom or to Flossie! I located the site again - no small task! So I am sure it exists, but don’t really know a simple way to get there. I am not positive if my process on my cell phone is different from a computer. It is a known fact, at least among family and friends, that I am severely “computer challenged”. So, going on a deep dive into several sites came with its own set of challenges. But, after a few false starts, I located the site and, for me, the journey was well worth it! These were the steps I took: 1) I typed into Google “ How many times was Nora Marlowe on “Gunsmoke”. 2) Then it directed me to a “70”s shows” (www.intimates.com) main announcement page. 3) I clicked on that and up came a LONG list of all my Mom’’s TV credits, Funny, but they mentioned “The Governor and JJ” was the ONLY series she appeared in. ODD!?!? But, in the bulk of the credits, there were all the Waltons episodes she appeared in the listings I have no clue how to rectify the mistake and include her name on a 2nd series. However, upon reflection, in the realities of the current world, actively trying to put her name on the series’ listings seems so unimportant! But, I enjoy the stuff that is already there. Right under the credits listings it states the “wishes” are on “FACEBOOK”. I am not on FACEBOOK but, somehow, all the birthday greetings were able to be viewed. Then, 4) I saw the website: www.intimates.com There is a nice photo of my Mom in a hat that she wore on the Waltons a lot. This area was underneath all her credits. The birthday greeting was for Sept. 5th, and along with the photo, was wishing “Nora Marlowe who plays Flossie Brimmer on the Waltons a Happy Birthday.” BUT, it seems like all the info about my Mom, her birthday and fan appreciation were basically sponsored by the “Inspire Network” - but that name doesn’t seem to have a similar website. Go figure!! So, all the birthday wishes were to “Nora Marlowe” and NOT Flossie Brimmer They were very nice to read - a bit strange sometimes but overwhelmingly kind and thoughtful. Mom would be so grateful! But, I do think CoraBeth would be quite jealous of such admiration!

I think it's so lovely that you stumbled upon that site! It's nice to see how the viewing public still remembers and appreciates your mother's work. 💗
I have to say that I chuckled at your asking about whether or not it was a thing to wish deceased actors a "happy birthday" in Heaven. I'm not sure if it's my Irish Catholic upbringing, but we do a very good job of including our deceased relatives in our daily life. Last night my mother and I went out to celebrate my dad's birthday (which was last week). And yep, on the day of his birthday I did post a tribute to him on Facebook and wished him a "happy birthday in Heaven." While I'm reasonably confident they don't have Facebook in Heaven, I do believe that our departed loved ones have an awareness of what's going on here. I know my father would be tickled that we remember him with love and laughter.
When we go to Ireland we even visit our deceased relatives at the cemetery. I always like to say..."Why should anyone be left out just because they're dead?!"
So I find it perfectly normal that people would wish your mom a happy birthday. And now...because I didn't see that site and didn't realize that Sept. 5 was her birthday...
Happy belated birthday, Miss Nora!!! 💗🎉💐 Your work is still delighting and entertaining your fans around the world. And now we have been so fortunate to "meet" your lovely daughter, Tracey, who has given us insight into the amazing person you really were, outside of the many roles you played. What a beautiful legacy you have left -- most especially in your family, who keeps you alive in memory. 🌹

And I think the lady who won the lottery and bought an 8,000 sq foot house for herself and her 30 cats...is totally rad. 😉🥰😎

Meh, if a religion can baptize the dead, then happy birthday wishes to the dead are not out.

Do Not - I Repeat: DO NOT try to access 'intimates.com'! It is an extremely explicit adult porn website!
However, following Tracey's steps posted above, I arrived at the same page she did (and I guarantee that it is NOT an adult porn website. ): www.ultimate70s.com/
You can't add the other show yourself, but you can ask the webmasters to do it for you through this page. You shouldn't have any problems filling out the info there.)

Not untrue, but still kinda mean. I don’t even think CoraBeth would toss an insult like that at anyone on Waltons Mountain. That comment by Dr. Curt was not intended as an insult to Flossie Brimmer. The intention was to show what a rude person Dr. Curt was. He insulted nearly everyone he came into contact with - the Baldwin sisters, Yancy Tucker, Flossie Brimmer, and others. He was seen as rude and crude and untrustworthy. But…he was also a very a good doctor who needed someone who lived in the community to help him learn how to treat the people’s medical needs without insulting them. Mary Ellen was studying nursing, so she was the perfect person for the job. As they spent more time together, they fell in love. It was just a different sort of storyline for the unpredictable character of Mary Ellen to meet someone and fall in love. Unfortunately it included the fat shaming of a beloved member of the community. I feel sure your mother understood the intention of the writers and if she felt insulted, she likely got over it before long.

Good grief! Now I realize I should NEVER try to do my posts past midnight! SO SORRY I left off “70’s” after intimates for the website!! Yikes! I apologize to Easton and anyone else if they went to that site. Boy, after getting misdirected to that other site I bet it woke Easton right up and you didn’t even need coffee!! Again, apologies!
Thank you PatriciaAnne for your explanation about birthday wishes after death. I, too, was raised an Irish Catholic, but we never practiced any of those traditions after a loved one’s death. But, it does sure seem nice. I just found out I am 99% Irish (3 grandparents and my Dad were born in Ireland) so that tracks. Even though it is in print that my Dad was born in Glasgow, he told us it was Ireland, so I have to believe him!
Read some very interesting stories on my phone about Ellen Corby, the Baldwin Sisters and Will Geer. Some alluded to Judy Norton and her memories of Will. The Baldwin Sisters’ stories were about how the actresses were chosen for their parts. I assume all of these stories probably found their way onto the Forum already. But they were interested that they appeared on my phone 3 days in a row.
Maybe “Big Brother” is taking notice that I post on The Waltons Forum, so they direct me to other stories about the Waltons. Perhaps??? Whatever!

Don't worry. It happens to the best of us and make for some truly 'giggle' moments.
As for the website, it's been so long since I've had sex, I can't even remember who gets tied up.
(wink wink nudge nudge say no more say no more)

Thanks for sharing the link. When I saw again Nora's wonderful body of work, I was reminded of her brilliant appearance on "The Rockford Files." James Garner was one of my favorites, and I absolutely adored his interaction with Nora when she appeared on his show. Tracey, do you have any inside scoop on her Rockford performance. It was so good!!

If you're talking about the 'tied up' thing, I've got it on a huge key chain that I got for Christmas from my younger sister way back in the 70s. I've still got it.

Yes, the blue lights from tvs, Ipads, cellphones, etc, stop the brain from making melatonin. I've studied this subject til the cows came home and now I know how to improve my sleep. It's not easy!
