Foreverlee, rebeccalee and Kathy Lee, really enjoyed seeing your pics. Your house is beautiful, forever. I like the kitchen, rebeccalee, and the telephone/milk jug are so neat, Kathy Lee.

I have a fairly strong lazy streak I'd have to get over it in a hurry!
I could have helped John-Boy with the Blue Ridge Chronicle, doing editing and proofreading, and submitting stories every now and then, as needed.
Similarly, as one who majored in music in college, I could have worked with Jason with his music. Would have liked to have played gigs with him at the Dew Drop.
I could have been a substitute teacher at the school and helped the kids with their homework.
And Olivia could have taught me to sew and Grandma to quilt. I think I would have preferred tending the livestock to doing housework or cooking, however.

I'm an odd one. I actually enjoy cooking and cleaning, so I'd be a good extra hand around the house. I enjoy yard work, and I'm a pretty good organizer too. But if I were living with the Walton's, I'd be too busy gawking to do much of anything. After I gawked for awhile, I'd be busy running around and hugging all of them. After awhile, they'd kick me out.

No. They'd probably have sold me to those gypsies who passed through.

I think the Waltons better get the guest room ready, because a lot of us are on our way to live with them!

Actually I knew the answer to that years ago the minute I saw the scene in which John-Boy remarked that some people in New York don't get up till 9:00 a.m. and Grandma replied in amazement, "The day's half-over by then."
My definition: 9 a.m.: Crack of dawn.
Before 9 a.m.: the only reason to be out of bed at any such hour is to use the bathroom and go right back to bed till a decent time!
Recently a guy who has done some work for me discussed someone wanting to speak to me at 8:00 a.m. We both agreed that if we had to be anyplace that early, it would almost be easier not to go to bed! I did meet with the guy, and I didn't go back to bed afterwards, but I spent the day in the sort of haze which takes a day or two of recovery!
And whatever time it is when they all say good night is probably a good 4-6 hours too early for me to think about turning in!

Yes I could've I would have loved it,I get up early around 5:30 I used to watch the show when I was little, and wish I could live like that. The one bathroom wouldn't have bothered me because we had a outhouse so that would have been a luxury to me.

Oh absolutely! We suffered through no AC as kids and have been suffering through it the last two years (in Texas!) so no trouble there. One bathroom is fine. Out in the country with critters and a pond. I can't think of much better. The best to me though is the sense of family. To me, you don't unbecome family when a kid grows up or gets married. The family just grows. Everyone under one roof sounds really nice to me.

I think The Waltons had it a lot nicer compared to lot of the people who actually lived during the dirty 30's. I knew people including my own parents and grandparents who experienced hardships on the Canadian prairies like dust storms, drought, boiling hot weather, grasshopper plagues, the constant fight of Russian thistle trying to take over their land, and a severe shortage of water. Some people actually collapsed in the streets of some towns and cities dying of starvation. The Waltons series looks like a picnic compared to what it was really like. The Waltons having electricity, indoor plumbing, a hot water heater, and a telephone in their own place was unheard of as most country living people didn't get those luxuries until after the war in the late 1940's
Having said all that, if I had any skills to contribute, I would want to help John Sr. keep the books and help keep the vehicles up and running.....and gather the eggs.

Same deal, it has to be for church or something important, and sometimes even church somewhat spoils my day if I get up so early I am tired in the afternoon. The difference being my mom is on an entirely different schedule, often just getting up about the time I go to bed, so someone is awake 80%-90% of the time!

I could be a nanny for John Curtis while Mary Ellen is at school/work and Ginny if Cindy needed a sitter unless Nicolle Wallace gets the job ahead of me LOL.
