I can hardly believe that it has been nearly a year since last year's reunion in California. I remember when last year's reunion was 16 weeks away & I didn't think the time would ever pass. Now here it is just a little over 4 weeks away till the next reunion! Yes, it should be just gorgeous with the leaves turning & the crisp fall air. I have always heard that the more rain you get in the summer, the more beautiful the fall foliage will be. I don't know what kind of rain Virginia got this year but it should be a stunner here in good old Dixie (Alabama). We had lots of rain this summer, much more than we have had in years. I keep hoping that Carolyn will be posting something again very soon about the upcoming reunion.

I'm sure you'll all have a wonderful time.
It is amazing to think that a whole year has nearly gone by since the last reunion in terribly hot LA!
As for all of the rain, well I keep hearing about how much you have all had over there this year. Schuyler should be stunning!
I'm looking forward to reading about all of the reunion fun here on the Forum. Sadly, can't get out of Australia for the reunion this year.

ONLY 21 MORE DAYS UNTIL THE WALTON'S REUNION IN VIRGINIA! Yeeha! I am so happy for all of you that are going to Virginia! I have never been to one of the Virginia reunions before but hubby and I are already talking about going next year, assuming there will still be another one, of course. We have been to Schuyler twice during the summer and it is so beautiful there. Autumn must be stunning with all color. Just curious....what is the approximate number of fans that usually attend in Virginia?

Just curious....what is the approximate number of fans that usually attend in Virginia? I've attended the last two reunions in VA, and this will be my third, and generally the number is around 250 people. I'm thinking that's what it will be again this year.

Thank you, Michelle! What an amazing number of fans that attend! I had no idea there were that many, being newer to the forum this year. Carolyn really puts on a very well attended event!

Carolyn sure does, Jan. I found out about the forum and the fan club back in 2010, and from speaking with Carolyn that summer and being a long time Walnut and I mean a long time one too, I decided to see what the reunions were all about for myself. Attending that first reunion, I became an even bigger Walnut if that were even possible. The other reunion attendees were just great. I just keep going back for more. I decided then to make it an annual trip and will go as long as I'm able to.

Jan...Carolyn usually sets the number at 250 because not only is putting a reunion together a lot of work but I'm sure it would be hard to find a place to accommodate a bunch of people. Plus I'm sure she is also going for an intimate feel instead of everyone getting lost as a number. I am positive many more than 250 would attend if there wasn't a set number that can attend.

Thanks so much for the background information. My husband and I first joined the Walton's International Fan Club in early 1999 and met Carolyn on the cruise that December. We continued our membership, receiving the quarterly "Blue Ridge Chronicles" until 2006, keeping up to date with all the happenings and great articles. Then, life got in the way and we could never seem to find the time to attend any of the events, dropped our membership, and drifted away for the next seven years until retirement provided more free time and I found this forum earlier this year. My husband dug out all our old "Blue Ridge Chronicles" tonight....all eight years. Oh, my, what a treasure trove of "fun stuff" to look through after so many years! In 1999, Carolyn had THREE events...spring, summer, and the December cruise in '99! The 1996 Walton's International Fan Club cookbook, "Recipes from the Heart" also got pulled out tonight and is going to be put into use. So, this "Golden Walnut" has got herself some real good reading ahead from the past, and some great sounding recipes to try from a cookbook I had set aside for 14 years. Here's to the 2013 Walton's International Fan Club Reunion. May you all have the most delightful time ever!

Jan, what a joy to read your post tonight at 12:52 AM! And you still have your "Blue Ridge Chronicles!" My sweet husband and I put our WHOLE HEART into making sure those newsletters would bring joy to the reader. I'm glad you found yours. :-) I sure wish you were coming to Virginia to be with us in a few weeks. I remember the first time I saw you and your hubby when we went on the cruise. I know you will enjoy the upcoming cruise. Looking forward to seeing your pictures. I am so looking forward to our event coming up soon. I've worked hard to make it a memorable one for everyone. This reunion is different from any I've ever had. "Remembering the Seasons" and it is in "Memory of Ike Godsey" - America's #1 Storekeeper! Everyone will love their dinner ticket. And you may want to have your "hanky" near you when we remember Joe Conley during the program. Each person will have their own candle to light as we hear the song, "Go Rest High On The Mountain." And there are some surprises to be given away! I've still got LOTS to do before I head for those beautiful hills of Virginia. I need y'all to pray for my knee that I will be able to walk that week-end. I will get a third knee injection this Friday. I hope it will be a powerful injection. Jan, I need your address. :-)

Jan, I need your address. :-) Carolyn, Oh, my goodness! I was so thrilled to sign on to the forum today and find your post after a hectic schedule kept me away from here for a couple of weeks. You brought such a smile to me and fond remembrances of the wonderful '99 cruise we all enjoyed together. I wish things would have turned out differently this year and we were headed to Virginia instead of NYC this weekend, but it just didn't. Next year, Carolyn! Roger and I are already planning to attend and be with you all. It will be wonderful to see you again and meet all the wonderful folks from this forum. The program you have planned sounds so touching. I would be crying right along with the rest of you. Have a wonderful reunion this weekend and I hope your knee injections have helped you by now. I know what you are going through. I will try to find your email and send you a message with our email, home address, etc. (We still have a little slip of paper with your name and address on our bulletin board!) Thank you SO MUCH for writing. You made my day!
