Yeah, it sure does. My dad and me were never really close but this past year we've gotten a lot closer. My mom and dad divorced when I was two and I've always been closer to my grandfather, his dad. I'm so happy!! This is one of the best things to ever happen to me I think. Next to becoming a godmother to my little cousin. I'm so excited, this is great. Sorry I'm ranting.

If your time and money are limited, you might want to wait until Friday, the 18th, to come down. There is usually a fan club activity at the hotel on Friday evening, sort of a meet and greet time. Then you have all day Saturday to visit the museum and anything else in Schuyler you want to see (a tour of the Hamner house!). The banquet is on Saturday evening at the hotel. Then you can spend the night and leave on Sunday. Be sure to email Carolyn Grinnell with your information, name, address, phone number, email address, so she can send you the necessary information. thewaltonsinternationalfanclub@gmail.com

I told my dad that but he said he would come down for the 17th thru the 19th because he also wants to do something while we are there.

I told my dad that but he said he would come down for the 17th thru the 19th because he also wants to do something while we are there. There are lots of interesting places to visit in that area of Virginia, so I'm sure you can find things to do. Just make sure your fad understands that the banquet is on Saturday night, and it will last late into the night, so you might want to plan on spending the night on Saturday, then leaving on Sunday morning.

I made my reservations and my grandfather is paying for it.. I've done some work for him and he's also paying the check part for the thing on that Saturday!! I'm so excited and I can't wait to go. I was going to pay for the banquet but he went noooooo you save your money and get what you want. I wasn't expecting all that. I was just going to ask his help to to help me pay for everything. Surprises come at you from every turn I guess

I called the Kirkley Hotel in Lynchburg this past Sat. and was told all of the rooms at the special rate have been reserved. I was offered the normal rate of $133 plus tax, much higher, and I plan on staying 2 nights. I have called the hotel several times trying to get someone to squeeze in one more room at the Waltons rate.
I waited until I received the forms for the reunion to know that everything was finalized, then I called to make my reservation.
So is anyone else in my boat? Boat? Well, that's a whole other reunion isn't it?

Jerry, I wish I knew what to tell you. Personally, I think the hotel should go ahead and give you the fan club rate, since it's obvious that they do have rooms available. It's not very good customer service, in my opinion. You might try calling Carolyn. I don't know if there is anything she can do at this point, but you never know. Good luck.

I also waited to find out what was going on and I got the higher rate room. I was just happy that they still had rooms available so I would be able to go!!

Anytime I am planning a trip, I make my hotel reservations as early as possible, because you can always cancel them if you need to. Most hotels allow you to cancel up to 24 hours before the reservation date/time.

I'm with you there, Brenda. I reserved my room months ago. Unfortunately, from what I understand, no additional rooms will be added to the block of reserved rooms for the Reunion at the $89/night rate.

To Jerryboy and others -- don't feel too bad about paying the higher rate.... you'll get better rooms!! Hotels always give their less desirable rooms to folks paying discount rates and keep their best rooms for those paying the higher rates!!

They have always given me a nice room at the Kirkley Hotel, and I have always paid the fan club rate.
