Reckless . He/she gave unconditional love to everyone and asked nothing in return - was always finding one person or another in the woods-chased skunks into and out of the house- even took a couple of bullets on behalf of the Walton clan.

Well, Ben started the lottery on Mary Ellen's baby which made Mary Ellen so upset she finally went into labor. I think he wins hands down. Lol

I have to agree with Scarlett and sueinbc, Jim Bob had the biggest heart, I think. He didn't say much, but actions speak louder than words.
Why has no one said Grandma? Just kidding.

Why is Erin not even mentioned? Remember in the letter to John Curtis, Curt called her'Gentle Erin;. Could it be due to the fact she would not go out with Arnold Kevin{a name contrived from the Kevin Arnold on The Wonder Years} because she was afraid that the same thing would happen to him as happened to GW? And Mary Ellen said, You don't deserve to have someone so nice" ?

Gentle and nice are not the same thing. Death by carbon monoxide poison is gentle compared to death by falling into a wood chipper. Neither are nice.
What has Erin done? Took care of the fawn, but needed the fawn more than the fawn needed her. She gave Ben and Cindy her gas coupons. She worked for the typewriter for JB. She stood up for Sarah against JD Picket.
What else?

Erin is probably my second favourite Walton child, after John-Boy, but I wouldn't say she was the nicest. In general, she was very nice, but I think she behaved really horribly/selfishly when it came to Paul and Ashley in A Wedding on Walton's Mountain. Though it has been a long time since I've seen it, so I may be misremembering.

She was billed as the most beautiful, but to me, she also comes across as the most self-centered.
In the firestorm her attitude was "to heck with the people in Europe, look at me I am beautiful and would win this thing if it wasn't for my brother who is concerned for world peace"

I shall have to keep this in mind when I next see it ;D

Yeah Grandma or Patricia Neal in the Homecoming were a bit harsh. Good people, but I'm kind of glad my grandma and parents weren't quite that way but they were strict in their own way. That was just their Baptist upbringing which I respect but take with a grain of salt sometimes. And yes Erin was probably the most selfish self centered though she was nice and sweet too. :)WmFan Sportwriter

Well, what about Mary Ellen? She rode out to the hollers to care for sick people. She also had to endure that crazy storyline where her husband was still alive.
