Everyone that attended shared wonderful stories with us, and awesome pictures. I was just wondering about a couple of things and I wanted to ask while the events are still fresh in your mind. 1) What did Richard Thomas have to say? What kind of things did his son say about his father being on the show? 2) What did the guests like Charlotte Rae, Fannie Flag etc. have to say about the show? 3) What did the cast say about the show? 4) Was the food good? I was just wondering different things.
Brenda, are you going post pictures and tell us about your time there?

daniela......At Carolyn's Friday event the menu was: Beef Bourguignonne, Chicken Florintine, Green Bean Almondine, Wild Rice, Glazed Carrots, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Tossed Salad, Ambrosia Salad, Potato Salad, Bowtie Pasta Salad, Chocolate Mousse & Bread. The food was DELICIOUS!
At Ray's/Kami's event on Saturday for the Honored & Special Guests & VIP ticket holders they had some kind of Steak Meat (we did not get to try it as they had ran out of it), Chicken & Dumplings, Mashed Potatoes, Tossed Salad, Green Beans, Bread, Ice Cream & some kind of Apple Crumb Dessert. My hubby, dewlanna & I DID NOT think much of the food. The Chicken & Dumplings had some square spongelike thing in it that tasted HORRIBLE! If I had been at home I would have spit it out but you can't exactly do that at an event like this. We all did not like the green beans at all either. I mainly ended up eating Mashed Potatoes & the Apple Crumb dessert because they were pretty good. Of course, ice cream is ice cream! So my hubby filled up on that. (As a matter of fact, after we left for the night, dewlanna went through McDonalds drive thru). They also had free samples of the "Baldwin Ladies' recipe" if you wanted to try it. Neither my hubby nor I drink alcohol so we passed on it. Ones that did try it told us it was "potent."
I am not in anyway knocking Ray or Kami. When you plan a menu & order the food you expect it to be good. I am just saying that in my hubby's, dewlanna's & my personal taste/view we really enjoyed the food at Carolyn's Friday event but were disappointed in Saturday night's food.
Carolyn's Friday Itinerary was:
5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. - Registration & silent auction. 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. - Autograph session 7:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. - Welcome & dinner 8:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. - Program Program Participants: Earl Hamner, Jr., Carolyn Grinnell, Walton Cast & Script Writers, Greg Bentley (Social Media Manager - INSP), Jerry Knop & Woody Greenberg. 9:30 p.m. to ?? - Mingle with each other & goodbyes
Ray's/Kami's Saturday Order of Events:
Opening with the theme of 'The Waltons' - Paul Cardall & orchestra Opening Narration: Earl Hamner, Jr. Tribute to Ellen Corby & Will Geer Presentation & Introduction of Honored Guests: Hal Williams, Lynn Hamilton, Joe Conley, Ronnie Claire Edwards, Kami Cotler, David Harper, Eric Scott, Mary McDonough, Jon Walmsley & Judy Norton. Musical Performance by Judy Norton Intermission In Memoriam of cast members of 'The Waltons' accompanied by Paul Cardall & orchestra (they played, "Life & Death.") Special Presentation of 'The Waltons' writers, directors, & producers by Michael McGreevey & Claire Whitaker Special Presentation of 'The Waltons' - Supporting Cast & Guest Stars Richard Thomas introduces the cast of 'The Waltons' - Special Intro by Rich Thomas, Jr. Discussion panel with the Cast - William Keck, Moderator Presentations & Introductions of Honored Guests Continued - Richard Thomas, Michael Learned, Ralph Waite & Earl Hamner, Jr. Closing Narration - Earl Hamner, Jr. Goodnights
Marla Gibbs & James Bond III introduced Lynn Hamilton & Hal Williams. Fannie Flagg & Rachel Longaker introduced Ronnie Claire Edwards & Joe Conley Mariclare Costello & Charlotte Stewart introduced Kami Cotler Bruce Davison & Gerald McRaney talked about Richard Thomas & had some Video from him Rich Thomas, Jr. talked about his Dad & had some Video from him Tom Bower & Lee Purcell introduced Judy Norton David Doremus & Richard Hatch introduced David Harper Leslie Winston & Tony Becker introduced Eric Scott Jonathan Frakes & Michael O'Keefe introduced Mary McDonough Charlotte Rae talked about Michael Learned & introduced the Video message by her (These introductions are NOT listed in the order that they happened.) Right now I honestly cannot remember who introduced Jon Walmsley & Ralph Waite.....can someone else who attended help me out??? I am racking my brain & just drawing a blank!?!
For baseballfan: There NEVER was any mention of a future movie or other plans. Just wishful thinking by all the Waltons' fans.

Thanks forever! I like hearing about little details. It's hard when the food is not great, especially when you paid $300.00 a ticket. The menu sounded good, but unfortunately, when you're not the one cooking it, the food can be bad. It's like a wedding, you may have the best menu, but it depends on the chef and his help, whether it's good are not. Running out of food is bad too.
Sounds like such exciting events, and I wish I could of been there. These are great memories for everyone who went. Thanks for filling me in on little details. If you or anyone else wants to share something more, I 'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to hear about it. Thanks forever!!

I remembered that Stephen Collins introduced Jon Walmsley but everyone had two people to introduce them so still can't think of the other one? ? Nor who introduced Ralph Waite. Glad I could fill in some of the little "details" for you. Wish you could have been there too daniela. I would like to meet you. Maybe we will get the chance next year in Virginia??

I loved reading your post foreverwaltons and I am glad daneila and baseballfan asked those questions. Reading about everyone's experiences has really pumped me to go to next year's reunion.
I hate it when the food is not up to par when you pay good tickets for a food related event. I have had that happen twice, once on a Christmas trip to Tennessee where everything under the domed lid was chicken, with some kind of nasty gunk on top of it and boiled potatoes and once when Cindy from Survivor came to Mason County for an event, we were served chicken once again under a domed lid, and believe it or not, that chicken breast was topped with mushy salmon and you could smell it before they took the lid off... we paid 300 dollars for the Tennessee event and 100 for the meet and greet with Cindy. The events were wonderful but the food was just sad and nasty. My guess is the catering folks cut cost every way they could.
I think the Virgina reunion sounds the most exciting since that is where Mr. Hamners story originates and I know that in Oct. the scenery will be spectacular.

Unfortunately, the food a big events is seldom very good...... hence, the term "rubber chicken" dinners ! Only sometimes do you get lucky, like at Carolyn's Friday eve dinner.
However, it's not supposed to be about the food.... and that's the main reason catering places can get away with it. For a good meal, the answer is your favorite "family" homecooking, or the most expensive restaurant in your area !!

I got a good laugh out of the "something to souse the dumplings with," mercantile. But even the "recipe" would not have saved those dumplings.......and I don't even drink alcohol!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say that I really liked the food at Carolyn's event. I didn't pay the $300 for Ray's event so I didn't taste that food. As Jeri says, the food at big events aren't usually very good, so I wasn't expecting the dinner to taste as good as it did. It was a nice surprise.

I'm not Peggi (weezer29), but I can answer that question. Yes, she was sitting in the balcony with me and my husband, and we had great seats. We could see and hear everything perfeclty.
When it was over, I was starving, so we stopped at a restaurant and got something to eat.

man, I dont know about that, Jeri. I would get real obnoxious real quick.
I would be asking Earl why they recast John boy...stuff like that. Especially, If I paid for a plane ticket and 300 bucks to go. I would get my money's worth,
