I see your side, Jeri.
It can be argued that it is "stealing". However, the person isnt making money for putting it on youtube. In their mind, they are just sharing with fans.
If they were selling bootlegged copies to people for a profit, yeah, that's wrong...
Then again, GMC used Ryan's footage of the reunion for their commercial, and that isnt right either. Unless, you waive those rights when you buy a ticket to a reunion.
I have a question for ya, Jeri. Have you ever taped a tv show from tv on a VCR and saved it? Have you ever taped a song of the radio and saved it? Have you ever borrowed a music album from a friend and then dubbed it ? I know you are involved with the stage, so have you ever videotaped a performance of yours?
its the same thing.
edit-also, Is it wrong if ya go the library and check out a dvd?

The answer to all five of your (adjective omitted) questions is no. Hard for you to believe, isn't it..... Unfortunately, it's hard for most people to believe....

I'm glad you omitted the adjective since you have perfect morals. You were thinking it though lol. you were thinking it. Hey, I was just asking. It shouldnt be a big deal if you havent. You said it wasnt about money- that it was all about morals and you had them, so I asked. . btw, would you turn down a role if you had to actually say one of those "adjectives" for the role?

I may be wrong here, but I don't think it is a big deal. I think the responsibility lies with the person who uploads it and YouTube itself. There is no law, that I am aware of, against watching a YouTube video.

The adjective I had in mind was "snarky"..... which is the way you were treating me. I never said I had perfect morals..... but there has definitely been a decline in society.... and I thought the whole You-Tube thing was a good example. It's been discussed again and again, in many different "forums".... I certainly wasn't the one to originate the idea/complaint. People think differently nowadays. There are so many examples of these differences.... one you'll get a kick out of (I hope) is that through the fifties and possibly into the sixties, when one learned to drive, part of the "curriculum" taught (whether by a parent, professional driving school, or in high school drivers ed) was to avoid driving on the painted lines in the road unless necessary -- because community taxes paid for the painting, and it was inconsiderate to the taxpayers.... Can you imagine anyone thinking that way today ?? Another regarding learning to drive back then is about leaving enough space between your car and the one in front of it -- not just for safety's sake, but also to make it easy for another driver to come into your lane should he/she desire.... Today, people seem to resent another car pulling in front of them and purposely strive to make it more difficult !! I could go on and on with stuff like this. When ways of doing things are inculcated from toddlerhood, and particularly if one stays close to the family, it usually sticks..... and it's disappointing to see attitudes change so dramatically. Can anyone think of something the Waltons did with unethical or immoral undertones -- something which wasn't specifically "corrected" in the episode ??

I don't know if this would be considered unethical or not, but remember in the episode, The Intruders, when a new lumber company moved to the area and Grandpa tricked them into moving their lumber down the river so the Waltons could win the contract? Would you call that unethical or just good business? Brenda

Mostt of us haved taped shows, games and other things and it's my understanding that if we don't sell or show them publicly without permission then we're in our rights. I hear this message on almost every sporting event I watch. Talk soon. Intesting subject waltonsportwriter

Brenda Actually it would be unethical which is totally cheat if they didn't have the law back then like us now otherwise they would lose their business. My favorite scene where Zeb explains that John will find out in “three shakes of a lamb’s tail” what he did.

calling people that watch episodes on youtube " larcenous souls" is pretty snarky, Jeri.
About my questions-as you said earlier in the thread, " Just simple questions -- no harm intended"

Why are you sorry? It's an interesting subject, one that many folks are sensitive to, and no reason not to discuss. It's good to think about such things and have thoughtful conversation..... about any subject.

About my questions-as you said earlier in the thread, " Just simple questions -- no harm intended" Awesome, it was your way of doing it that was snarky. No, they were not simply "questions." There was an agenda attached, as you well know. Since it appears I must explain every single remark I make in extreme detail if I don't want to be misunderstood -- I was bringing up what I perceive as a growing, larcenous societal attitude -- not making a personal attack....
