I was able to watch all the Waltons episodes on youtube the past couple of months. Someone had uploaded all the episodes, and I'm so grateful to whomever it was that did all that work. I was so bummed to see that the channel was taken down the other day. I just want to thank whoever the person was that did all that work. I'm not sure if he/she posts on this board. Just in case they do, I just wanted to say thank you, all of your work was very much appreciated. I'm sorry to see the channel was taken down.

Yeah, well, when that is done, the actors, et al., don't receive their royalties !!! Not fair.....

I'm almost sure it is a violation of copyright legislation, and YouTube was right in taking it down.

Just wanted to thank the person that uploaded the episodes, I'm still grateful that the person took the time to upload all the episodes. I was able to watch all the episodes before youtube yanked the channel.

The Waltons have been on Youtube.com for years and still are as of a few minutes ago. The movies are there too.

So, Marilyn, with your law enforcement background, what would it be called? Fraud?
Or, just unethical......

All right ms. Forum..no one on the Walton's who acted gets paid for syndication..wasn't even heard of back then. Hamner gets a check..not the kids.ask him if he cuts them cash every year for the reruns...I venture to say the answer is NO. .as far as ytube..I respect both Marilyn and Jeri..relax. Maybe a few thousand people view. It only helps the franchise. And again..if those actors WERE getting royalties..you would be seeing a lot more of them than this annual thank you celebration to drive ratings. If I am wrong..I stand corrected..smile.

Travis, you relax! Just simple questions -- no harm intended..... And, BTW, we've covered this before on the forum and, according to the actors, they do in fact get small royalties..... I do agree that it might help the franchise..... just wondering if anyone could be prosecuted for either posting or viewing..... And, to me at least, there is somewhat of an ethical issue.....

I can't imagine that anyone would be prosecuted just for watching. Lots of material put on YouTube is copyrighted, however, and all it takes is someone reporting it to YouTube, and they will take it down.
I do think those YouTube Waltons videos could lead to more interest in the show. Maybe someone will see them and start watching it on one of the cable networks, or even buy the DVDs. So it's not really a bad thing for The Waltons, but it is copyrighted material. I think Warner Bros owns the rights to it, but I'm not absolutely sure about that.
And Jeri is right. The actors do continue to get small royalties from the show. Several of the actors have said that in the past.

Well, I was going to say that the people who watch that way are probably those who can't afford cable TV or the DVDs. Then I realized that if they can afford the internet, they should be able to pay for cable or DVDs. I have done some research and found that the rights to The Waltons belong to Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution. The cable channels that carry The Waltons make agreements with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution (which I assume means that these cable channels pay for the right to air the show). Here is some info from YouTube regarding their copyright policy: www.youtube.com/t/howto_copyright

Hey, I think The Waltons should be public domain anyway. If somebody doesnt have cable tv, and they want to watch the Waltons, I think that youtube is a great way to do it. However, mony people that have internet have cable tv.
It's a wild situation. I can understand both sides. I'd be surprised if the cast cares. the show is on 3 networks as it is. I hear those royalty checks are SMall, anyway. like maybe 20 bucks a year.
btw, you cant get in trouble for viewing youtube.

I don't see it as a question of how little money the actors are losing, or of whether one can get into trouble in viewing illegally posted videos on You-Tube. To me, it's a question of honesty -- what's right and what's wrong.
I fully realize a crusade about this will stand little chance of having any impact..... No one cares nowadays. They feel entitled to something they consider "public domain" as you put it. Well, it's not public domain. And, it's not right. Maybe a couple of people will take my words to heart, or at least think about it......
As far as how much money someone has, does that mean it's perfectly okay to post or view such videos? Or, steal library books -- all in the name of "education" for an underprivileged person?
I suspect upbringing has something to do with it. I come from a scrupulously honest family..... and, yes, we've been teased because of it. My family makes me proud. This subject makes me sad.
