I just watched the Choice this morning as I'm completing Season 3 on DVD. Watching these episodes just make me think of my own goals and dreams as a sports and writing person. I've even been offered a chance to write some posts for a baseball site called Basebook writing about the Milwaukee Brewers and baseball. It isn't a paid opportunity, but it is an honor to be asked and I'm excited about it. I'm also taking some Spanish lessons a language I've always wanted to try to re-learn some. I took it years ago in school. Anyways thats what keeps me busy besides work and family . And of course my third main interest online is coming home to you my Waltons family and watching my favorite episodes. Every episode makes me think of our own lives and experiences in some way and the Choice was a big episode for Jason deciding to study his music and his father John and the Family learning to accept it. Wonderful lessons and Merry Christmas again everybody. WMFan Waltonsportwriter

Watched "The Homecoming" this morning. Tonight I watched "The Townie" & "The Journey." Did you notice in "The Townie" that when Sissy Spacek comes to school late, as she opens the door to come into the school that in the background outside you can see what looks like a paved road/street & buildings/houses in the background? As she comes into the school they have black shades on the bottom half of the windows. Since it was filmed on the studio lot, I think they put up the blinds so you couldn't see other buildings/streets outside but they forgot about being able to see beyond Sissy when she opened the door. In "The Journey" Johnboy & Maggie ate at a fancy restaurant "The Mermaid." She had scallops & Johnboy had broiled lobster. The bill was $2.10!! He left 25 cents for a tip. ;D

I made some posts about the cost of the dinner at the Mermaid 12 years ago on the other Forum in regard to prices.

Just watching Founders Day once more...Earl Hamner's closing narrative has the tears running down my face...once more.
"There is something within us that tells us all we will ever know about ourselves. There is a destiny that tells us where we will be born, where we will live, and where we will die".........
"I have walked the footsteps of my ancestors, I saw yesterday and look to tomorrow..."
That is great writing.

Ijust watched the Ordeal on DVD tonight, and this might be my favorite episode of all time on the Waltons. You see this fall I broke my right foot and it took me five months to recover. I was lucky it healed and I didn't have to have surgery. But it is very emotional and gives me a new perspective to see how Elizabeth's injury from broken legs which was much worse, was a constant ordeal for her and her family. Just as my injury was. I used crutches, a wheelchair and a boot as well. Elizabeth recovered as did I but it is very special to watch now that I have been injured. The other part I have always loved is Jim Bob's struggle to accept that his beloved sister Elizabeth was injured. They were best pals and siblings and Jim Bob didn't know how to show his feelings to his closest sister. And then at the end he does and asks Elizabeth to walk a few feet to him. She does and falls in his arms. Now I'm not a crier, but I get very emotional and shed a tear when I see that scene. And now I'm seeing The Ordeal for the first time since my injury and that's why it's my favorite episode on the Waltons. Wm Fan Sportwriter

I just watched "Founders' Day" from Season 7. Made me wish I grew up in a small country/mountain town and to know more about my family's roots.

I just watched "Founders' Day" from Season 7. Made me wish I grew up in a small country/mountain town and to know more about my family's roots. Have you checked out Ancestry.com yet? I had a funny thing happen -- I took a look at it just for the heck of it and was very surprised to find a lot of background about one of my family branches -- a distant cousin had started it and I couldn't believe how much data she had collected and entered, even a couple of photos of me !! She is the granddaughter of one of my paternal grandmother's seven sisters. Never met her because her family moved from the Northeast to California over 65 years ago..... now we're BFF's

I have tried Ancestry.com. No luck. My husband, however, has traced both sides of his family back through many generations. My father's family was from Germany and we have limited info...much was lost during the war. My mother was adopted, and although I have her birth mother's name, the trail is cold. I so wish I had roots like the Waltons!!
