Can somebody tell me why most of the adult actors changed from The Homecoming to the start of the series? Was Patricia Neal's reason something to do with her stroke?

Lorimar Productions is a separate unit from the company that produced The Homecoming. This accounts for why most of the adults were different in the Waltons from the Homecoming ,

I think I heard somewhere that Patricia Neal was'nt offered the job in the series because they did'nt think her health was good enough to do it. She had a stroke or something but she said if she had been offereed the job she would have taken it.

Does anybody know why Ellen Corby returned? According to "Good night John-Boy" book on page 147 from Rod and Claire Peterson whom both are writers for the Waltons show stated that there was never any question that Ellen Corby would return to work after her stroke. And even from Jon Walmsely (Jason) said that Ellen's return to the show was one of the most courageous and commendable decisions.

Oh sorry I didn't mean after her stroke, I meant after The Homecoming why was she the only (adult) actor who returned? I can see why they would've had her back after her stroke.

That's ok. They offered Ellen the role of Grandma Walton and she accepted it according to Goodnight JohnBoy book.
