I am shamelessly announcing the publication of my daughter's book, The Year of Plenty. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys good children's literature, who enjoys reading books written in the style of Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House books, who enjoys historical fiction, and who enjoys reading books about large Appalachian families (like the Waltons) during the era of the Great Depression. The main character in the book is my mother when she was a 6-year old child on a large farm in rural eastern Kentucky. My mother is the same age as Earl Hamner (she was born July 31, 1923). She was next to the youngest in a family of 9 children, so some of her brothers and sisters were already grown when this story takes place. My daughter is a very talented writer, as you will discover if you read this book, and you will also enjoy the beautiful illustrations done by a family friend. I promise you will not be disappointed if you order this book. You can order the book at this website: www.frontiergirlpress.com/. You can order an autographed hard cover copy for $16 or a paperback copy for $8. This book would make a wonderful Christmas gift. Brenda

Brenda! Wonderful news! I wish you daughter every success with her book. I went to Amazon and had a "peek inside." The story is delightfully written, and the illustrations are really lovely. I hope book 1 leads to book 2...and on and on and on. It will be a very special series....for young and old alike. :-)
Sincerely, Barb, in Calgary :-)
