This video is well worth your time if you’re at all interested in the Hamner family and what it was like growing up in that house with Earl Hamner, his parents, and all those brothers and sisters. It is an interview with Paul Hamner, one of Earl‘s brothers. Paul and his brother Bill were the composite character of Ben. There are only 3 Hamner children still living: Paul and two sisters, Audrey (Erin) and Nancy (Elizabeth). This first hand account about the real life Hamner family and how they compare to the Walton family is a treasure. Enjoy!

I had no idea how many details if their real life were represented on the show...Reckless, Chance, the mill. I know what he means about the night sounds...I still love them. They lulled me to sleep each weekend as a child in our lake home and all summer long. I can't wait to have my own vegetable garden and can produce just like Miss Doris did!! |

Just watched this again. One criticism. Each time I watch it my eyes get sore.
Can't stop crying.

I don’t know when it was filmed, but I would guess it was sometime in the last 4 or 5 years.
