Thirty four years ago Friday--November 13,1975)we will 'celebrate' the 34th anniversary of the initial showing of The Loss. One week later will be 34 years since we first saw The Abdication---Hopping toads...LOL!

What is the Loss about.... and it sounds like The Abdication has something to do with England?

"The Abdication" has a great deal to do with England. It centers around the abdication of King Edward VIII in 1936 when he gave up the throne to marry divorced American Wallis Simpson. Edward was succeeded by his brother, who became King George VI,father of the present monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. This episode also has a storyline in which John Boy is reunited with his friend A.J. Covington from "The Literary Man" and helps him write a movie script. Stephen Collins ("Seventh Heaven") guest stars as a visiting Englishman in this episode.
I forgot what happens in "The Loss" but I remember the episode title.

"The Loss" is about Elizabeth's cat Calico died after giving birth to her kitten and also Olivia Hill for a visit with the family after her husband, Bob, dies in an accident.

Thanks Tracey and ncwaltonsfan for posting the explanations of these episodes. I was reasonably sure that all of those who post here are aware of the episode subjects. Remember also that A J Covington was played by two different characters.

I forgot that AG Covington is reunited with Johnboy. At the end of Literary Man we are told that they never cross paths again!

This is probably the reason why they had two different actors play the part of A J Covington in the two appearances.
