Hi all, Thanks for your warm welcome to the new forum, it looks incredible, and I will visit often. Mary and I are working hard on the book, and whenever I can, I'll post updates. For now, we're organizing pages and pages of memories, pictures and behind-the-scenes fun. I've been interviewing the other cast members, including Pat Neal, for "candid" thoughts so we can include their unique memories. Earl has also been very helpful with memories and book writing advice.
I saw the questions about the title. While we write, we're using "Mary's Mountain" as a working title, but that may change. I'm sure you immediately understand the reference to "the Mountain," and that is no coincidence. "Moving Mary's Mountain" refers to her life challenges after the show ended production. Stay tuned, we may ask for your opinions, so be ready for "audience" participation.
Brenda asked me how long I've been a fan of The Waltons. Of course, when it was first run, I watched along with all of you and enjoyed each character for different reasons (I grew up in Texas), but probably identified more with Judy Norton, since I showed horses and was a tomboy myself.
Fast forward to the years when I homeschooled my two kids. We watched the reruns to supplement our studies of the Depression and World War II. Our family became fans, and one of the highlights of the day was our hour on the Mountain. Then, through mutual friends, Mary agreed to tutor my son in acting. We became instant fans of Mary from the moment we met her. She is kind, generous, warm and funny. (My son was hired by a commercial agency and started getting leads in community theater productions almost immediately after Mary began working with him, so she's also a terrific teacher. He's "on hiatus" now, and is a senior in college majoring in Bio-Chemistry.)
It's no wonder why Mary has so many fans, and I know that the book will provide even more insight into her "larger than life" personality and provide a glimpse into this remarkable woman's journey.
Thanks for all your support and encouragement. Working with her on the book is a tremendous honor for me, I already consider all of you friends, and I truly appreciate the terrific support network.

Hi, Beverly.
Please count me in for any audience participation, such as to give an opinion on any portion of the forthcoming book. Especially count me in as a future buyer and reader of the wonderful book that you and Mary are writing!
