Did you also notice that in The Pony Cart that the family tree that Martha Corinne tells JohnBoy about contradicts other sources. She said Samuel Walton who came over from England was the first Walton in the area. Several other sources have it as Rome Walton and his wife Rebecca Lee. Including the episode about your "namesake" Zadok. Mr. Zadok Walton said that Rome Walton was his grand-daddy. And he would have been Zeb's grand-daddy as well because Zakok said that Rome was John's great grand-daddy. Martha Corinne doesn't mention Rome Walton at all in her narrative. I also wonder which branch of the family that someone as snooty as Corabeth came from. Yes I did notice what Martha Corinne said about Samuel Walton. John-boy didn't sound too concerned. He already knew the stories of Rome & Rebecca Lee. He used to walk up to their homestead just to clear his mind. So according to Bill Atkins data, Rome Walton settled on the mountain in 1789 (as mentioned in s1/e20 , the Deed), and Samuel came over from England in 1810 (s5/e11 the Pony Cart.). If Rome were married first in England and his wife died after having their son Samuel, and if Rebecca Lee had was Rome's second wife then Samuel came over to America after his Daddy. That would fit the info we've been given. As far as the rest of the inconsistencies from Martha Corinne, we could attribute them to senility at her age. I don't know about Corabeth yet. There is a fair amount of data about her on Atkins site but nothing showing how her family ties in with Zeb's family.. We hear she is John's second cousin. She has a brother Albert and a sister Orma Lee. Her Mom's eldest brother was Lucas and she had an unmarried Aunt Matilda. Perhaps there is more information we might learn from the episodes. .
