Ellen made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1974 - apparently her second appearance, but the first one... well, Johnny explains it better.
I will say I am surprised how reserved Ellen seems to be - almost like she is uncomfortable being interviewed. The way she touches the arm rest on the chair, and doesn't seem to do much eye contact with Johnny... oh well, still interesting to hear the conversation!
Enjoy!

thanks, I've never seen that. Maybe it was just being in front of an audience?

Thanks! I think this is the first time I've seen Ellen outside of seeing her on the Waltons. It was nice to see the real person. I have a love/hate relationship with YouTube. Love the videos but hate the amount of time I end up spending there thanks to all the recommended videos that show up on the right I clicked several of the Walton related ones. I love this one with Ellen and Will accepting their 1975 Emmy's. They show Michael Learned sitting at the table taking a drag of her cigarette, lol!

This Emmy show was broadcast on May 17th, 1976. Nine days later on May 26th, 1976, Ellen was on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Ellen was wearing the same dress on both occasions. I have no problem with that but I thought to myself - How many of 'today's' stars would be caught dead wearing the same thing twice. LOL!

Maybe she really is Grandma Walton, and has only one "party dress"?

That was awesome! It's easy to forget how great Johnny Carson was, for almost thirty years.
But it blows me away that I'm 65 years old, and Ellen was 63 in this clip. But I don't feel at all like I'm old!
