Hi. Would anyone know the exact narrative wording of the "Goodnight" sequence that ended every episode? I believe the house is darkened with but a single light on upstairs, and Grandpa starts it off with "Goodnight, John-Boy,"...then it flows through everyone, name by name, in the extended family. Thank you!

Josh is correct. The closing narrative of each episode is different. Fortunately we have access to the opening and closing narrative of each episode in seasons 1-9, plus the TV specials, thanks to the hard work of a wonderful Waltons fan, Mr. Arthur Dungate. Mr. Dungate was part of the very first Waltons forum, over 10 years ago. He was from England and was retired from a career in television. I used to hear from him occasionally, and he would post on the forum now and then, but I lost contact with him several years ago. He did leave with us his very detailed episode guide however. Just click on the title of the episode, and you can read his entire synopsis with the opening and closing narrative. Enjoy! www.the-waltons.com/season1.htmlWelcome to the forum, nostalgia. Brenda

We lost touch with Arthur Dungate several years ago---there was another Walton forum member in Illinois---from Pekin, Illinois--the home town of two well-known people-- Susan (Laurie Partridge)Dey and the great Senator Everett Dirksen. His name was William Atkins, and he and I have exchanged Christmas cards for years. But I know --since he has my address and knows about this forum--that he would let me know if he had heard from Arthur Dungate. So there has been no news about him in years ,

I believe that sadly, Arthur may have passed away. I was contacted some time ago by a television colleague of his, asking if I knew anything, as he was trying to contact Arthur. I passed on the information I had and he did some further checking himself. I know that Arthur had been unwell prior to that time, as I had emailed to check on him when his Waltons Digests had suddenly started returning. I had one reply but a little later there was nothing.
We're very lucky to have Arthur's legacy in these goodnights, which would have taken such a long time to transcribe.
