Just saw "The Pony Cart" for the first time (or at least the first time as an adult when I can appreciate it). Now the acting on The Waltons, especially with the parents and the grandparents, is always close to perfection. But Ms. Bondi's performance as Martha Corrine was even better than what the main cast usually turned in. Talk about a painfully honest and realistic job as a mountain woman.

Beulah Bondi was a distinguished character actress, having appeared in many movies, including the Frank Capra classics "Mr.Smith Goes To Washington" and "It's A Wonderful Life",in which she played James Stewart's mother and Ellen Corby made an appearance. Her performances as Martha Corrine in "The Conflict" and "The Pony Cart" were excellent.

Beulah Bondi was absolutely superb in her Waltons roles. I have had a couple of emails from people who have been related to her, asking about her Waltons work.
