Nooooo, The Homecoming is perfect just the way it is. I miss the adults from the series, but no, it's perfect the way it is. That Little House remake by Disney stunk too! They had a bratty Laura, and a "sexed-up" Ma. (Really, long hair flying all over in the middle of the prairie, with all that work???) They looked like they bought their clothes at the local western wear shop. Jack is suddenly a "spirit dog?" I missed that in the books, where was it? Sorry for ranting about Little House. I guess I like my perfectly-coiffed Michael Landon. Wait, so Pa Ingalls can be portrayed by a man that SHAVES his chest, but Ma Ingalls cannot be portrayed by a women who lets her hair fly loose? As a red blooded American female, there is no way I will ever, ever, ever complain about seeing ML as "Pa" with his buff, bare, shaved chest, working in the barnyard (I am getting warm just thinking about it), but I don't see the connection between loose hair and sexed up.

Women just didn't wear their hair down, it's just too impractical. I couldn't go five minutes with hair flying all over while I'm trying to make some lye soap. Ick! Women also didn't wear brimmed hats, they wore bonnets. It looks like they wanted a more "modern" version of Ma, in the Disney version. I just didn't like the Disney version, leave the original be. Same with The Homecoming. It's fine as it is.

There are many people that don't like LHOTP (Michael Landon's version) because it does not resemble the books. Then there are those that love LHOTP (Landon's version) because they never read the books and don't like anything that is different. Then you have the other versions that tried to complement the books. LHOTP has been remade several times with either a mini-series (Disney) or movies (Richard Thomas starred as Pa). I personally watched the Waltons tv series before ever seeing the Homecoming and I like them both. Personally I like the tv series because the characters were allowed to develop. In the movie, that is all there is. How would Patricia Neal develop the character of Olivia? I still check out the Homecoming every year from the library and watch it. It is one of my Christmas traditions. I would love to see the children giving flashbacks to their children/grand children, than to remake a movie that I already enjoy.

One thing about Little House on the Prairie fans, no tv show or movie will satisfy them, if being true to Laura Ingalls Wilder's book is important. I look at them as separate entities, Wilder's real life, the books, the tv show, the movie remakes. The only thing really true to Wilder's life is the new book Pioneer Girl, which reads like a PhD dissertation.
Same with The Waltons. There's Earl's real life, the books, the tv show, the movies. I just enjoy them for what they are.

I wouldn't want to see it remade. But if it is Kathy Lee should play Olivia! "Son, I did not want to burden you with this. But, a bus went off the road near Covesville. There's two men trapped and some others hurt."
