Have you ever attended a county fair? If so have you ever entered anything in it? Was it small like the ones on The Waltons? Our county fair is a little bigger than the ones on The Waltons. They usually have carnival rides but not this year. I have never entered anything in the fair but know people who have.

I've never attended a county fair but I do go to our state fair. I guess that is a just a larger version of a county fair. I've never entered anything either but I like to look at the craft exhibits and the animals.

I've been to the state fair, not county fair. I entered 6 different jams and won five blue ribbons. I only entered for one year, because I didn't like submitting my jam for the judges to only take a taste and then having to throw the jam afterwards.

I think I live in the land of county and town fairs. There are at least 8 fairs,if not more, I could go to during the summer months. The closest, not only has the normal stuff like livestock, food, clothing, and plant judging, vendors, carnival rides, 4-H, but also has a rodeo. One of the county fairs in Maryland also has a tractor pull. At one county fair, every few years, I judge the 4-H dog agility show. The kids have such a good time with their dogs. It's a blast to judge. I'm also lucky enough to be about an hour and a half from the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival, which is huge! Lots of good stuff there. I've never entered anything, but maybe when I retire (HAHA) I can make something to enter. I make a wicked fig jam!

I live on the border of two states, so have attended both county fairs, but never entered anything. One of the county fairs has become a state fair. Everyone said they liked it better when it was the county fair. I like the livestock exhibits the best and the horse shows.

By the way, I have fig trees in my yard! I live not that far from Maryland. What are the fairs and when? We love fairs of all sizes. We usually go to a few smaller fairs and the big state fair in New York.

They hold County Fairs around here so the 4H club can go on to compete in the State Fair (NY).

It was a very big fair considering it is only 35-40 miles west of Chicago.
Right now the ND State Fair is going on about 2 blocks from our house. It is a big deal here, not really to me, but to the folks here. Last year the State Fair Parade had Josh Dumhal, as the headliner ( he is from Minot). I haven't heard much noise from the fair, but I work nights. Saturday Aerosmith is playing. Joe and I plan on putting out the hammocks in the back yard and listening, maybe with a beer or glass of wine. LOL

It has been several years, but I used to really enjoy going to county fairs. In Northeastern PA, they are a pretty big thing popular. In fact, one fair is so big that my school used to set aside a day where we could go to the fair instead of school...and it wasn't even our county.
I never entered anything in a fair, but my nieces have both had artwork entered.

When I was growing up our school would let us out for a day when the county fair came to town. I never went to our county fair until I was an adult. For several years, my best friend and I would wait until the last night of it and go around 10:00 p.m.. We wouldn't have to pay for parking or an entrance fee. We would also get awesome deals at midnight on candied apples, corn dogs and such when they were shutting down to move to the next place.
My daddy's half sister lived in Birmingham and every October, my parents, brother and I would go stay the weekend with her and go to the state fair. What wonderful memories I have of those weekends. Most of the time my uncle (my momma's brother) would go with us too. He is only three years older than me, we grew up like brother and sister.
I never have entered anything in a fair.

I have been to the County Fair in Essex County NY where my Mother in Law lives. There I was witness to a great big ox pulling a chain attached to some type of giant iron weight. I'll have to say it was not like anything I had ever seen before. The biggest attraction for most folks, however, seemed to be the Demolition Derby. I think everyone in the County (which, granted, isn't very many people) was there to see it. It was pretty neat, I'll have to say!

They usually have carnival rides but not this year. I have never entered anything in the fair but know people who have. I have entered the New Jersey State Fair and so has my daughter. The NJ fair is midsized. I have also entered in the Chatsworth Cranberry Festival it was a small event but is now fairly large. We also have a few county fairs that are small like the ones on The Waltons. The small ones can be so much fun! The biggerst we have ever attended is the NY State Fair. It can take a few days to see everything!
