Do you think that if more Waltons specials were made (another ten years ahead) that it would still be good? I'de love to see it, but I know it'd neve rhappen, but just to kno what you think about the idea, if you think they'd be good?

I'd like to see some sort of reunion show, I've mentioned this before. It could start with one of the family members returning home after a long absence, maybe down in spirit, looking for their roots, or perhaps more appropriate, a child of one of the Walton kids, being brought by a parent after undergoing some sort of trauma. The new Walton is being brought back to their roots.
What would have become of Ike's Store? We know that at the end of the show's early episodes the narrator would mention Olivia still living in their house.
Is Yancy Tucker rich? Does Jim Bob own a chain of garages? Did any of the Walton kids have a big family of their own?
If it was done right, I really think there could be another series. It worked for Star Trek, after all.
There's a gap when it comes to family type shows. Right now, and I admit I'm not much of a current TV viewer, the only shows I can think of with a family in it are shows like Medium. Prime time seems to have been taken over by CSI and Law and Order in their various forms. Along with reality shows.
There's an enormous gap in simple story driven shows. I like an occasional special effects laden show, but sometimes I like to be just told a story and the story doesn't need to have dissected body parts or explosions or murders or serial killers.
Tell me a story with characters I wouldn't mind hanging around with.
Besides which, I'd love to see how one of the Waltons would react to one of their kids getting an eyebrow pierced...

"Tell me a story with characters I wouldn't mind hanging around with". Who have teeth and bodies like the rest of us (although I do have straight white teeth).
I want to see normal looking people again without surgical procedures.

If you mean another reunion movie with the same actors/characters, then no, I don't think it would work. It really bugged me that they messed with the timeline in the last 3 reunion movies. Unless they just ignored the events of those movies and had a reunion take place in the 50s or early 60s, I think it would get to the point of absurdity seeing the Waltons alive during the Carter and Reagan years!

I agree completely with your opinion about the absence of family shows featuring good characters. The reason they don't exist anymore, in my opinion, is not because there aren't good actors who could pull it off but because the writing talent just isn't there (in Hollywood) anymore. Yes, there is the occasional well-written TV show but there are very few that have consistently well-written episodes and well-developed characters. The same is true of films, in my opinion. That is why there is such a huge reliance on car chases, explosions, murders, etc. The absence of talented writers who can write family show episodes and develop characters over the long-haul is a direct result, in my opinion, of people simply not writing anymore, particularly in schools. I know; I'm a teacher. Too many people are too busy text messaging, and picking up atrocious writing habits in the process. The ability to write well is directly tied to the ability to read well. We all know the problems our nation has had and is having with kids who can barely read. This can not be blamed on the schools; it all starts at home. In my opinion, we will be a lot better off as a nation if parents would buy fewer cell phones and more books.

Well I disagree here slightly, I'm a school student and I text wwith my friends though I read vast ammounts of things- Arthur Conan Doyle, H.G. Wells, Bram Stoker etc and also write in my free time, I guess it's different for evry person.

Unfortunately most kids won't read if they can occupy their time texting or surfing the net. It's kind of sad in a way.....
