My cousin passed away last week. He was 53 and had a sudden heart attack. His wife and three daughters and the rest of the family are so sad at his passing. He was a retired firefighter and also had his own business repairing appliances. He loved his family. He loved to play jokes on people. He loved to cook. He also loved the Waltons. You would never guess that this big, big man with the booming laugh would be a Walton fan but he was. Every Christmas he would watch The Homecoming over and over. His wife, who was not a Walton fan, would just shake her head. She never understood what he saw in the show. In the spring of 2015 (when I met Marge and Tom), we went to Schuyler, Virginia. I brought back a Walton mug, keychain, pencil, Big Chief tablet, and Walton music CD for my cousin. He loved that CD and would play it in his car all the time. His wife would complain with a laugh that the CD drove her crazy when she was in the car with my cousin. She said he would tell her things like, "This is where Elizabeth gets the broken doll!" She would joke that she would be holding up a "Help Me" sign to people in cars next to them. When I would be at my cousin's house, my cousin and I would start quoting lines from the Waltons. My cousin's wife would laugh and say, "Oh great! One is bad enough but now I have two of them!" We did it often just to tease her! I miss my cousin.
