I had chatted with Kathy Lee earlier in the day and she reminded me of the final scene. I recalled that scene but not remember the rest of the movie. Neither did Tom. Must have just caught the end of the movie one day. Anyhow, we thought that Janet wasn't the right woman for John boy. Too uptown. What did you think? Also, where were the kids...John Curtis, Virginia, Charlie? And what happened to Erins husband? And when did Jason get married? Did the front of the house look different too? Hmmm.....inquiring minds want to know.

I suspect they would have a reaction similar to Bob in The Shiveree episode. I think Janet was much more New York than Iowa. I did notice that there weren't any spouses except for Toni. Jonesy, Cindy and Paul weren't in the movie, nor were any of the grandchildren. It was very odd. I guess that's how it was in the last couple of movies. They didn't follow the storyline that much. I wish they would do a reunion movie to tie up all the loose ends.

I watched most of it yesterday, one of my favorites was when John Boy and Janet and the rest were singing Bicycle Built For Two as they were all heading to Drucilla Pond to see off John Boy and Janet as they were getting in the canoe to cross Drucilla Pond,to get to the cabin, they were spending the part of their honeymoon at.I liked at the very end when John said goodnight to them, that was a good ending. In the movie did they ever say what Grandma's father did.

I watched Olivia and thought that maybe she had a few too many "Orange Squeezes" to go along with the events of the day! "Don't tell Grandma!" LOL!

I guess the big secret about Grandma's father was that he fought in the Civil War for the Union and was against slavery. Virginia was part of the Confederacy and being a Union soldier would have been bad. You know how Grandma was, she thought dancing was sinful. LOL!!!

One of my favorite scenes is where Jim Bob caught the bouquet. Loved his reaction!

We met Mary McDonough (Erin) recently and she brought up about the movies and no Virginia, Charlie, Cindy etc. As I have read before and heard from other cast too the people behind the movies didn't care about consistency. As Eric Scott (Ben) has said he brought up a few things to them and they told him that no one would remember. They also left out a lot of characters because of the budget (money).
Any way Mary told us that Leslie Winston (Cindy Walton) was pregnant in real life when they filmed the 1995 movie "A Walton Wedding," They were writing in her character being pregnant since she really was. In the end they decided to not have Leslie in the movie because of the budget and had Lisa Harrison (Toni - Jason's wife) be pregnant in the movie instead. Mary said that it really hurt Leslie. I can imagine that it did!
My own observation: Since Jon Walmsley (Jason) and Lisa Harrison (Toni) were really married to each other at the time, that's why she was in the movie when Cindy (Ben's wife) and Jonesy (Mary Ellen's husband) wasn't.

I always wonder how old John Boy is supposed to be in this movie. He should be somewhere near 50 - a little late to start a family. Although Janet seems a lot younger. They seem to be trying to suggest John Boy is mid to late 30s here.
Also, poor Jim Bob gets no back story at all. Is he married or single? What's his career?

John Boy graduated high school in 1934. "A Walton's Wedding" (that John Boy gets married in) is set in 1964. That would make him forty eight years old though it looks like they have him younger than that in the movie. In real life at the time Richard Thomas was forty four years old.

I think it's terrible that the producers or whoever was in charge would think that those who love the Waltons would not even remember about key people. Although they weren't original cast members or "born" a Walton they are important to us. I'm sure that it hurt Leslie terribly to not be included. I know I would have been. I think that's why we need another reunion movie. We would get to say goodbye to Daddy, Ike and The Baldwin sisters. We would get to see what happened to John Curtis and see if Jim Bob ever got married. There are so many things that need to be tied up.

I always get aggravated watching those movies. I don't think the quality was anywhere near equal to that of the actual series. I am surprised that Mr. Hamner did not put his foot down!

I completely agree with clyde that the reunion movies are mostly disappointing so I don't watch them. I watched them all once to see how they were and that's enough. If the producers didn't care enough to know who had what kids and so forth, why didn't they listen to the actors and change a word here or there for a little continuity? Obviously out of the reunion movies that was my least favorite because no way is Janet the woman for John-Boy Does anyone know if she was based on Earl's wife at all...?

I agree, Janet was not the right woman for Johnboy. He needed a downhome girl. Someone who loved the idea of staying on the mountian not a city gal...Janet just didn't work for me.

I think the actress who played Janet was not the best choice....she made Janet out to be a prickly type of person with no warmth at all. She never seemed to fit in with the rest of the Walton women.
