Lorijean, enjoy your walton kick. Mine is coming to a close with the viewing of season 9. I started with Spencers Mountain then the Homecoming and finaly started watching from the first season. I am half way done with season 9. It has taken me almost three weeks to acomplish all of this. I plan on watching the six tv movies as well and then I am packing all of my waltons stuff an putting it away for at least a year. I am trying to kick the Walton habit and going cold turkey. Good luck Carol but I'm betting it ainta' gonna' work! I've tried to do similar things in the past with several of my favorite shows but I always cave in to the temptation. Give up on the Waltons for a year?!!! Come on!

Over here they do not have the Waltons on at a regular time any more---but if you have your DVD sets you can watch them at any time----
ALSO the Cable magazine says that HDTV is coming June 12---some cable stations have had it for months already such as TCM. But the way they wrote the article means that a lot of other channels will become available once the transition totally takes place.

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to remind you that Mary's book is going to fill that Walton hole...and more. It's got lots of behind-the-scenes stories and you'll feel like you're reliving the experiences right along with her and the other cast members. Hang in there while we put on the finishing touches, you won't be disappointed, I promise.

Ali, I think hope chests are a thing of the past here in the USA. They used to be popular many years ago. I had never heard of a quilting until I saw it on the Waltons, so it must be a Virginian thing.

Why is it that I'm still sad that the Waltons are done. I'm sad that they all grew up and the perfect life I loved to watch is no more. I watch one show every night in bed with my little portable DVD player and headphones. It's the only way I can relax enough to go to sleep and it doesn't keep hubby awake. What I wouldn't give to have been a part of a family like that. Maybe because my family was so dysfunctional, that I'm caught up in a fantasy world with the Waltons. Yes it's over, but I still am grieving. Good lands...am I nuts or what?? I know I need to snap back to reality and grow up a little. I hope you don't take this wrong. I understand how much you love the show, and I did as well. There are a few old shows (Waltons included) that occasionally I'll fall asleep to, no matter how many times I watch them. I think it's because they just make me feel like I"m in a safe place, and it's like a sleeping pill for me if I'm having trouble sleeping. Grieving over the show being over--that may be a little much. If the grieving you talk about is getting in the way of your real life, then maybe yes you need some help.

Darn it. I have fallen off the wagon. It started with "I'll just watch "Spencers Mountain" and the next thing I knew I had worked my way through "the Homecoming" and on through season 1 to "the Hunt".
Now I am a totaly strung out, glassy eyed, and craving "the Typewriter". Please, please, I need an intervention (like other Walton addicts will be of much help).
I promise that I will share my stash................

I promise that I will share my stash................ Told ya' it couldn't be done! Why don't you try weaning yourself gradually to lessen the dependence. Try working in a Little House or a Gilligan's Island or an Andy Griffith with the Waltons episodes. Bit by bit you'll be watching fewer Waltons. And if that doesn't work, well, what's the worst that could happen? You'll get to enjoy nine seasons of the greatest drama in television history! ;D (About sharing your stash; I think most of us have our own. )
