What became of David Doremus, better known as G.W Haines, the teenage interest of Mary Ellen, after "The Waltons"? According to www.imdb.com, he appeared as Chuck in a 1981 movie, "Rivals". But nothing else is mentioned about him. Anyone have any information on him?

Checked him out on imbd.com and his last movie was in 1981. Rivals aka The Rivals aka The Stranger at Jefferson High. I forgot he played on Nanny and the Professor!!! On Wikpedia it states that he is a California businessman in the mobile electronics business. He is married with 4 children.

Is it possible that they wrote him out of the cast because he was getting married---after The First Casulty--November 10,1977?

I always wish Erin had married G.W. They were perfect together. The First Casualty ALWAYS makes me cry and cry and cry...

No way! Curt was always Mary Ellen's perfect [well, maybe not perfect] soul mate.

Well, I haven't seen that far into the series. I just know that Mary Ellen and G.W. were friends in the First and Second Seasons.

I always wish Erin had married G.W. They were perfect together. The First Casualty ALWAYS makes me cry and cry and cry... That was very emotional episode when Mary Ellen’s returns home early to tell Olivia, John, and Erin the sad news that G.W. was killed in a training exercise at Camp Lee. Erin listens with shock and disbelief. I love how John finds her and reads the letter that G.W. wrote to him. The letter is a will in which G.W. bequeaths to Erin the bottomland acreage that his parents gave to him. He states that he knows Erin will love it and protect it. GW's letter to Erin – Dear Erin, I'm writing this on the bus after we said goodbye at Rockfish. I'm returning to Camp Lee and whatever Fate may bring. This for legal purposes is a Will - I, George William Haines, on this date do bequeath to you, Erin Walton, the bottom land acreage given to me by my parents and recorded in the Jefferson County Hall of Records. I know you will love it and protect it. Thankyou for sharing my thoughts and my dreams. GW That's even more tearjerker..

I too preferred GW with Erin. At first he was ok with Mary Ellen but she really out grew him (for lack of better words).

Well, now I can't wait to get farther along on the DVDs. Where I am now Mary Ellen and G.W. seem perfect, no thought of Erin at all!

It might have been that the reason GW did not marry Erin was that they were too perfect together. There would have not been any room for a disagreement!
And I am glad to see your posts again Lindalu! Had not heard from you in a long time even though I had sent you some notes and also a Valentine last spring!
