Who would have ever thought that going to bed would have a double meaning?

When I saw the thread title I thought that, perhaps, there had been plans for a more child-based Waltons animated series (similar to what Happy Days had) that would have been interesting!

WOW -- what a great idea -- don't think anyone has ever thought of a Waltons animated series before !! Something new to think about.... Do we have any cartoonists out there ?!
(I knew we needed you, AR15!)

A gag I remember from Johnny Carson's Tonight Show monologue decades ago. Doc Severensen was on vacation, and his deputy Tommy Newsome was thus the bandleader.
"I don't want to say that Tommy is dull and boring, but the other night he was watching The Waltons ...
[He pauses. Crowd giggles.]
" ... and the Waltons fell asleep."
(Then, the big laugh!)

Ok, I totally missed the Happy Days cartoon! I'll have to search around for that.
It's quite different from normal Happy Days. I think it's something to do with Fonzi finding a time machine. Jeri, I think a Waltons animated series would have been a nice little thing. I imagine that, no matter how long it went on for, it would be set in the Season 1 era (since, with animation, they'd never have to age them) and since they would probably all be voiced by different actors (as is usually the case with animated adaptations)I expect that they'd have kept all the characters all along (from a timeline perspective, you could just say it was what went on between episodes in Season 1). I expect Earl Hamner would have still been the narrator but he'd probably the only person involved with both; or maybe they'd start with a two minute live action Richard Thomas John-Boy introducing each story! It's fun to think about
