I'm watching the episode The Achievement and noticed a sign in Godsey's store that said Brownie Box Camera. I found a picture of one and I believe My mother had one of these. I don't know what happened to it. Wish I had it

I wish I had Cindy's red convertible. I love to do black and white photography, would be cool to have one. David

I had a newer Brownie, circa 1952.... not sure how long that model had been available, but it wasn't long until Kodak brought out a small camera with a flash, and that one was updated a few years later, too.
It's so strange to remember back when all "family" photos had to be taken out of doors, on a sunny day !! ... before I got my first Brownie, my father had a Kodak from the late 30's which was a rectangular box -- you opened a "door" and out popped an accordioned front which stuck out about 6-7 inches, and he continued to use that probably through the 50's.... I was very proud of my more modern camera !!
Went looking for picts -- FYI, for Dad's and then my Brownie, you held them about waist-high, and looked down into a "viewer"...

That camera on the right looks identical to the one we had in the 1960s. I liked that camera . Lots of good memories.

I have that exact camera! It belonged to my husbands parents. It is in perfect condition. Will have to post a picture of it. Just recently found it. It was buried in a box in our attic.

I don't know what happened to my mother's camera. My sister and I are slowly cleaning out her house since she passed away in December, and apparently she never threw anything away, so maybe it will show up. I have found boxes and boxes of old photos that were taken with that camera, plus an entire box of negatives. I can't find the photos for some of the negatives, so I bought a scanner that scans negatives, and I've been scanning some of them so we will have them. I've found baby pictures of my brother, sisters, and myself that I don't remember ever seeing before. Here's one of my brother and me, scanned from a negative of a photo taken with that Brownie box camera. Click the photo to enlarge it. Attachment Deleted

Brenda you were a cute little girl. That picture is good of you and your brother. Thank you Sharon. I wasn't even one year old yet in that picture. I was born in October, and the picture was taken the following summer, so I would guess I was about 9 or 10 months old. My brother was 9 at the time.

We also have the same Brownie except it's a Six-16 instead of Six-20. We got ours at an antique show years ago and it's in perfect condition, too. Just what you would find in Ike Godsey's General Merchandise! (It should open up larger if you click on it.) Attachment Deleted

I have my uncle's camera (he died in 1951). His has the round silver flash bulb attachment on it. I even still have a box of the flashbulbs that go with it. I need to see about buying some film for it and see out the pictures come out. That would be really something. To take photos with a camera that is over 65 years old.

Very nice articles. I couldn't believe how many models of Brownies were made over the years. Our Brownie, the Target Six-16, is from the l940's and cost $3.00. Thanks so much for sharing!
