does anyone have a map of the Schuyler area along with Rockfish and other local points? I have been trying to find out how to get to Rockfish then drive to Schuyler. I will have to follow someone at the reunion this year.
Also, has anyone ever created a map of "Walton's Mountain" and all of the significant places such as Ike Godsey's store, the Baptist Church, School, etc.?

Have you tried google maps? I think you turn off Rt 29 at Rockfish River Road. It will take you through Rockfish (little building) then into Schuyler, if I'm remembering correctly. Weren't you and Joe there with us last year?

I wouldn't know where to begin other than at the Walton house. The kids walked East (as shown with the house facing East on tv) and they also walked that way to go anywhere else. I don't even remember them walking West. So I am wondering where the school and church were in relative to Ike's store. They were probably close.

You can certainly follow me I just looked at the map and it looks like Rockfish is west of Schuyler. So Brenda is right, take the Rockfish river to Rockfish then to Schuyler. I drove it last year, but was getting directions from Cynthia. It was great fun to get our pictures taken by the Rockfish sign.

I think I was really confused when I went there. I was thinking, at the time, that I was heading west when crossing the railroad tracks from the old Rockfish post office. But I can see by the map that I was heading east. Yikes! I must pay more attention. I think it was all the winding roads that confused me. LOL

Otherwise you might be heading west when you should be heading east.

You all will have to let Mr. Forever and I, plus any carpoolers that are with us (Heather - dewlanna is one for sure), follow you again to Schuyler please. We had a great time hanging out with all of you - Brenda, weezer29 (Peggi), Cinlou ( and hubby Joe), MrsOliviaWalton (Jane) and Cynthia (she's not on the forum). Mr. Forever and I plan to grab some grub at Isis Ringrose's house. Any of you plan to do that also?

Why does nobody seem to be utilizing any of various mapping websites .. e.g, MapQuest, etc. It's made so easy for us nowadays.....

Why does nobody seem to be utilizing any of various mapping websites .. e.g, MapQuest, etc. It's made so easy for us nowadays..... Sometimes mapquest is wrong. The Walton Museum's website tells you not to go by the mapping websites because they will not be correct. The museum lists the directions for you though on their website, but it's still much easier to go with or follow someone who is familiar with the route (and a lot more fun). I know for a fact that if you mapquest my home address and go by it...you will not end up at my house! When Mr. Forever and I were foster parents and a new social worker would be scheduled to come out for a visit, I would go to give them directions over the phone. They always told me...I will mapquest it instead. I let them know that if they did that, they would end up somewhere else besides my front door. So then they got out the old pen and paper.

Yeah -- I didn't mean following directions on MapQuest necessarily, although I haven't often had a problem with it..... I always prefer actually viewing a route, and websites of hotels, museums, etc., almost always provide maps/directions.... I just like doing all the research I can up front, devising several different routes and timelines.... and knowing exactly where I'm going.... frequently make up my own maps.... I love the aerial views !! ....Never liked the idea of following anybody -- can be difficult and not really safe.

" I'm nobody.... who are you..... are you nobody, too ? "

LOL, It reminded me of that poem too. "There's a pair of us, don't tell They'd banish us you know." It was Emily Dickinson. I memorized the poem once, either in high school or junior high. It's amazing how that stuff stays in your mind over the years.
