A couple of weeks ago the Jimmy Stewart western titled "Broken Arrow" was on. I was surprised to see a young Will Geer as Jimmy's nemesis, a character that couldn't have been more opposite of Grandpa Walton. But he was great in the role of course. I also didn't realize the sheer number of movies Will was in, apparently about 100 over his career, even thru the Waltons years.

Will Geer starred in many movies. The IMDB should have a complete listing of Will Geer's movie and TV appearances. www.imdb.comType "Will Geer" in the search box.

It starred James Stewart and Dean Martin as brothers (one good who was tempted and stumbled and the other bad who wanted to change). The movie also starred Raquel Welch (another good reason to watch) and Will Geer. Mr. Geer played a rotten-to-the-core bandelero who really screwed up his son's head.

Will Geer also co-starred with James Stewart in "Winchester '73", in which Will Geer played U.S. Marshal Wyatt Earp if I'm not mistaken. In 1972,the year "The Waltons" debuted, he appeared in "Jeremiah Johnson" with Robert Redford and with Jodie Foster,Johnnie Whitaker,Michael Douglas, and "Waltons" co-stars Ellen Corby and John Crawford in "Napoleon and Samantha", about a pet lion.
