glad you answered that question about the late Eileen McDonough id knew your brother was in the show though from my waltons remembered group on facebook . Does anyone know why Eileen McDonough died? I can't find it anywhere. She was so young, she didn't even make it to 50. I just want to know the real reason why she died so young. Please help?

I can't find it anywhere. She was so young, she didn't even make it to 50. I just want to know the real reason why she died so young. Please help? Sorry, I can’t answer your question. I do remember David Harper (Jim Bob) mentioned her at a Waltons reunion a few years ago in response to someone’s question about the character Patsy Brimmer. He said he really liked Eileen McDonough, and he enjoyed working with her. He mentioned that she had passed away, but if he knew what happened to her, he did not say. I assume she was ill and passed away. Very sad in someone so young, but it happens. Here is an obituary I found online. EILEEN McDONOUGH
Eileen was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 20, 1962. She passed away peacefully in Van Nuys, CA on March 13, 2012. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe; mother, Loretta; and sister, Elena. She is survived by her daughter, Raeleen; brothers, Joe and Eddie; and sister, Lori.
Eileen was an accomplished theater and child actress and member of the Screen Actors Guild. Eileen was loved by all and will be deeply missed. A private memorial service will be held in the future.

I sat next to David Harper a couple of weeks ago while we watched the episode, "The Great Motorcycle Race." (Yes, it was a little surreal to be sitting in the Walton living room next to "Jim Bob" while watching The Waltons on television!) He said that Eileen was his favorite of the two actresses that portrayed Patsy Brimmer. He has never learned for certain the cause of Eileen's death. He speculated it might have been cancer, but does not actually know. He was deeply saddened at her passing.
