So for all of you that have been to Schuyler, VA, I was wondering everyone stayed, hotel wise. I'm headed to a herding trial in Leesburg in the middle of May, Saturday only and thought I continue on to Schuyler and do some site seeing. I've looked for places to stay around Schuyler, but the prices are way out of my budget. I am also traveling with 4 dogs, so the motel need to be dog friendly. Look around Charlottesville, but most of the hotels are not dog friendly. Any ideas, I'm trying to stay north of Schuyler, as I'm coming fro the Philly area.
Thanks in advance for any advise

Marshall is a particularly sweet looking baby. I love your site and I loved looking at the pics of the dogs working. A working dog is a happy dog. I also learned something about "mini-Aussies." Friends of ours got one of these dogs and they are having personality problems with him. Now I can see why. He's a very nervous little dog and is a bit of a snapper. Didn't help that when he was still very young, they took him up to their farm and these bratty kids were tormenting him. If I had seen those kids doing that, I would have knocked their little heads together.

Motel 6. ANY Motel 6 allows dogs. They have to. Jack Hannah owns part of the company and it's his rules. When I used to travel and show dogs, those were the only motels I would stay in because I never had an issue.

Thanks in advance for any advise We stayed in Waynesboro, Virginia ..or near it...on the day we visited Schuyler. It was either a Motel 6 or Super 8. This was 6 or 7 years ago, I do not remember the price. It wasn't that long of a drive between Waynesboro and Schuyler...just a little farther than Charlottesville.

We stayed at the Village Inn, Lovingston for the last 4 years when we came to Virginia to visit Schuyler and the Walton museum. The Inn is owned by a family, not a hotel chain. It is very clean and quiet. The prices are not expensive and we always enjoyed our stays there. It takes you about 25 minutes to the Waltons museum in Schuyler. The Inn has a website: villageinnlovingston.webs.com/I am not sure if they accept dogs. The best is to get in contact with them and ask. Enjoy your visit to Virginia.

I've also stayed at the Village Inn in Lovingston a couple of times. It's small, clean, inexpensive, nothing fancy, but it will meet your needs. I'm not sure about their pet policy either.
There is another small motel in Amherst, about 30 miles south of Schuyler. I have never stayed there, so I know nothing about it, but you could check it out. I believe it is called the Amherst Inn.

We stayed at the Mark Addy Inn in Nellysford. It is a very large old house that is a B&B. Beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is about ten minutes from Schuyler. We got a good deal on Travelzoo.com They also allow dogs. The owners have three.
