Well, talk about influences....
Back in either of my first year of Grade 7 or the second year of , maybe it was grade 8, either way, it was in History class and we had to do a project on a time frame in history, so I picked the 20s, beacuse i love history and that is one of my fave time frames ...
so what better source to ask info/references, then my Grandma ( Mom's mom), and boy did she give me slew of info, and the best part was her trust in me, to let me bring her still intact but somewhat yellowed wedding dress to school as part of my project as i had to do a presentation of it.
My teacher was impressed as were some of the students in class, and I did get I believe was an A or A+ /A++ for my efforts....
She had quite a few items that she had kept and after she died, I inherited her Royal Family collection of thinngs....souvenir items from when the Queen Mother and King George came to Ottawa for the opening dedication of the newly built War Memorial at the time, and a coronation souvenir plate of Queen Elizabeth II , some odds and ends of a few other misc itiems....acouple of them i had to eventually throw out, they were so far gone by then, a baby shoe worn either by my late aunt or uncle that were the oldest of my mom's siblings she had, and in the end they were the ones who had outlived all the other siblings, Mom included. Mom was the baby.

What a precious Grandmother! Thank you for sharing this sweet story. I enjoyed reading it and imagining you as a child being so careful with your Grandma's bride gown and the astonishment of your classmates and teacher - with your display of this precious garment.
Grandparents are so special and dear - our link to the present and the past!
