Have any of you ever seen this 1971 movie? I remember reading the book a long time ago, but I don't think I've ever seen the movie. I think I remember an Earl Hamner interview where he said that he saw Richard Thomas in that movie and thought he would be a good actor to play John Boy. Anyway, tonight I was watching "The Substitute" episode of The Waltons, the one about Megan Pollard, and I looked her up on the IMDB to see who she was. Miss Pollard was played by Catherine Burns, who was also in Red Sky at Morning with Richard Thomas.

I haven't seen the movie, but I'm inclined to look it up now that I know Richard Thomas is in it. I haven't seen him in anything non-Walton related.

No, I haven't seen it. I did find this (it has some cuss words in it):
This one is music from the movie but it also shows you scene shots from it too:

It was horrible. My copy of the movie is one of my Walton items I would get rid of. Blech

Thanks for the videos, ForeverWaltons. I wonder if the entire movie is available somewhere? I can't seem to find it on Amazon. Is it really that bad, Scarlett?
Desi Arnaz Jr appeared in this movie as well as Richard Crenna, who has been in a lot of TV shows, but I remember him best as Luke McCoy in The Real McCoys.

Miss Pollard ( Catherine Burns ) was also in another film with Richard Thomas, called "Last summer". She was nominated for best supporting actress in that one. The film also stars the beautiful Barbara Hershey.
I have not seen that whole film, but apparently Richard Thomas's father in that film is played by some guy named Ralph Waite. Now how about that.

It also stars Bruce Davison. He played Bob Hill on "The Shivaree," Season 3 Ep. 19. He was also shown in flashbacks from The Shivaree in "The Loss," Season 4 Ep. 10.

It looks like you are able to get it at www.ioffer.com/search/items/red+sky+at+morning Ebay also has it from time to time. It seems it was shown on TV channels from time to time years ago (cable channels not the major networks).
It's funny how different people know someone from different things. I know Richard Crenna from playing Col. Samuel Trautman on the Sylvester Stallone movies: First Blood (1982), Rambo First Blood Part II (1985) and Rambo III (1988). I also watched Judging Amy when it originally aired from 1999 to 2005. Richard Crenna played Jared Duff on that show from 2000 until his death on January 17th, 2003. He played Tyne Daly's fiancée on the show. They were planning their wedding when he died suddenly in real life. The episode they did to acknowledge his death on the show was very well done. I now watch it in reruns on the UP channel.

Most of you would NOT like "Last Summer". I saw it on TCM. I had a thread about it on here.
Trust me on that.
