Cute website. Now how are you going to provide the 'recipe ' for the spice cake grandma used the Baldwins special ingredient..lol Or the cake that Olivia made with raspberries on it and whisky icing. Or how about Martha Corinne's hot Virginia sausage.

The raspberry cake was featured in the episode where they went to a county fair type event. An old beau of Olivia's who was running for office was in the episode (he was played by Michael Learned's husband Peter Donat). Actually I think the cake and the icing had the whisky flavor. But maybe you could substitute almond. The Baldwin ladies also had jelly made from "The Recipe". Dr. Vance saying, "Is this what I think it is", and "It's positively intoxicating" is so funny.
Martha Corinne's recipes were mentioned in "The Pony Cart".
Was Verdie's cake a burnt sugar or burnt cinnamon?
I noticed you had a recipe for egg custard. I love to have soft custard poured over pound cake. There is a restaurant in the town I grew up in that occasionally has it as a dessert special. It's Kirk's restaurant in Hinton, WV.

Oh I have bookmarked this website and will be trying out those recipes for sure!
Martha Corinne's hot virginia sausage sounds very like what we Australians call 'rissoles'...sausage and beef mince mixed together with an egg to bind it and then seasoning added and spoonfuls dropped to fry in the pan. Like burger patties kind of.

Well it started out as just sausage with the normal amount of spices that they usually used. And Martha Corinne starts adding more pepper pods and more sage.

I did not know that was her husband! I thought he was her ex-husband by then, but I could be wrong. He couldn't light a candle to Ralph Waite, though. (Sorry, Michael!)

Hi Everyone, There is a new Walton website that you might like. It's all about the food the Waltons ate during they show! There are recipes for food listed by movie or episode. For example, The Homecoming has recipes for roast turkey ("Won't John be surprised when he comes home and finds a turkey roasting in the oven!"), stuffing ("Mama. Do you think I'm pretty. No. I think you're beautiful."), Olivia's applesauce cake ("We'll slice one warm from the oven!"), and eggnog ("Take it out yonder and pour it on the ground!"). The website was started in February 2014 and I am up to The Typewriter in Season One. The plan is to watch each episode and movie and post recipes. I think I will be busy for a long time! There are also pictures of the Hamner house, Schuyler, Rockfish, and the Shenandoah Mountains as we live not too far away and often vacation in the mountains and surrounding area. If you get a chance, check out "Supper at the Waltons" at www.supperatthewaltons.comHope you like it. Thanks! As the starter of the keeper idea, I officially anoint you as the Keeper of the Walton Recipes.

Thanks for the nice comments about the website. It is just a fun hobby for me. When I tell non-Walton fans about the site they look at me like I am Crazy with a capital C! But, hey, I am a librarian and they are allowed to be a little quirky! I do remember the actors commenting about the cold food. If I remember correctly, the children were often messing around on set and filming could take a long time so the food got cold. Then, when they tried to serve the food cold, the child actor advocates (I don't remember what they are actually called) would say they could not serve the children cold food. I think I would like to be a keeper of the Walton's recipes. Will have to get a picture and get the keeper going. tried to do it earlier this week but it was such a busy week. So happy to sleep in a little this morning! Yesterday I watched "The Theft." At one point, they're sitting around the dinner table and everyone is upset and no one is eating, especially the kids--just pushing food around on their plates. They must have liked that scene.
