Dagmar, the word 'tips' is accurate. We're in the midwest of the USA and we plan on taking a 2009 fall color trip to SC and I'm wondering how close we would be to the mythical 'Walton's Mtn'. I'd love to stop at the museum. From South Carolina,it's probably about 5-6 hours to Virginia. I live about 3 and a half hours south of Schuyler from my location near Greensboro,NC. I travel on US 29 North from Greensboro,NC, to the turn off to Schuyler. The SC line is about 2 hours south of my location.

Hi Dianne,
thanks for your safe trip wishes. I knew that there is a bed and breakfast in Schuyler but I couldn´t find more information in the internet. Do they have a webpage? I didn´t find anything about them.
And of course I will say hello to Scott and David if I see them there.
Bye, Dagmar

Dear Brenda, Annenina and Dianne, Hallo Waltonfans,
I am back from my trip to the south of US including Virginia. It was one of my best holiday-trips I ever had. We started in Atlanta because I wanted to see the home and grave of Dr. Martin Luther King. After 2 days there we went up to the north to Ashville. From Asheville we drove more than 300 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway ( for 2 days). We had fog and heavy rain, sun and blue sky. The Blue Ridge Parkway was one of the highlights of my trip. In Lovingston we slept in a wonderful Bed and Braekfast Inn for 2 nights.
We visited the Walton Mountain Museum two times. First day we arrived there in the morning. We were the only visitor for nearly two hours ( we stood in the museum for nearly four hours !!!). We had a private tour through the museum with Patrick (from the museum). So we had a lot of fun and I took a lot of pictures with my video camera. Patrick was so friendly and we are still in contact.
The museum is great. You feel that it is made with a lot of love for the Waltons.
Later we walked down the street to the Hamner house. It is still under construction and it is not sure when it will open for the public. Schuyler is such a small place but quiet and the landscape is very very beautiful.
Dianne, the Bed and Breakfast in Schuyler was closed.
We were so much thrilled about the museum that we went there again next day for 1,5 hour more.
After visiting Monticello, Ash Lawn and Charlottsville the next day we moved further to the coast and down to north Florida ( St. Augustin).
We are sure that we will visit Virginia, the Museum and the Blue Ridge Parkway again very soon. It was all so great, so beautiful and the people were so friendly. We really were thrilled ! And very sad when we had to leave.
Dagmar
