No, no musical planned that I know of ,but I was watching my yearly all seasons, and I noticed how much singing this family does. Honestly, how many of you sung like the Waltons while you were growing up. It has never bothered me before, but now I find myself turning down the volume whenever they start singing. My mother has a Phd. in choral music and we had a lot of music growing up,but nothing like the Waltons.

Back then there were few amusements. The Waltons has the radio, and church, and occasionally would go into Rockfish for a movie, but otherwise there wasn't much entertainment. Families back then still might gather around the piano or around someone playing a guitar and sing just for the fun of it. This was a popular Victorian-era entertainment and Grandma and Grandpa were both from that period; they may have encouraged or suggested it.
I remember in Petticoat Junction they would often gather around the piano and sing. I used to wish I had sisters and a mom who played piano so we could sing around the piano, too!
