I've never read/heard this mentioned, but I thought I would ask anyway...
We know that the Brady kids dated each other, and there was some puppy love on the set of "The Partridge Family."
But, was there any dating on "The Waltons" set? Did any of the kids "go out" for a time?

I watched an interview with Judy norton (maryellen) and she said that she had a crush on richard thomas (johnboy) but I dont think that there was any proper dating so no.

Yes, we have discussed it before, and I think goodnightelizabeth's reply about sums it up.... we also mentioned the fact that Richard Thomas dated Sian Barbara Allen ("Jenny") for a couple of years, but I think that started up before the show and he may well have helped her get the job.... I think there was such closeness among the cast members that perhaps some thought taking it any further would ruin that wonderful relationship.

If there was anything like that going on, the fact after 40 years no one talking demonstrates the integrity of the cast in protecting their legacy. I personally believe they respect each other and acted as a family. Besides, those kids were together from the Homecoming movie all the way to 1980. They grew up as a family.

I actually thought there were a couple of occasions in the show when that was apparent - most notably the episode when Mary Ellen and John-Boy danced in Godsey's hall. There was sort of an intimate look that passed between them that didn't seem too sisterly-brotherly to me. I also remember noticing a bit of 'self-consciousness' on Erin's part in a scene or two with John-Boy though I can't think of which one it was. Heck, why wouldn't they be aware of him - he was handsome, charming and sexy and they were both attractive young women.

There was a fairly significant age difference between Richard Thomas and Judy Norton. When the series started, he was 21 and she was 14 ( Mary McDonough was 11). I doubt that he would have been interested in either of the girls at that time, other than in the little sister affectionate way. By the time they were old enough to be of romantic interest to Richard, he was gone from the program. I can certainly see how they would have had a puppy love type of crush on him though!

WAS HE REALLY 21??? ISN'T HE SUPPOSED TO BE 17?

It must have been awkward with Richard Thomas being the star of the show, what with his time the most valuable. Did he ever cuss out his on-screen "parents," one wonders. "Listen up, Waite, you blow the line again you'll be back as an extra on 'Bonanza'! Now get it right this time." I hope not!

Wow. That's a really early (old) thread.... the subject has come up several times -- but, unfortunately, probably tacked on to threads of who-knows-what subjects. We're good at going off on a tangent!
