Friends, We saw the discussion about the book and wanted to let you know how much we appreciate your support and encouragement. We have been planning on telling you all first, then making a more formal announcement on the website, so here goes.
Our agent has found us a terrific deal with with MB Press. Mary's memoir, with the new working title, "The Waltons and Me; Life, Laughter and Lessons from the Mountain" will be published in the spring of 2010. We know it seems like a long way off, but we still have a few chapters to finish and lots of photos to organize, it has to go through editing and layout, and the actual printing and proofing takes time.
We are excited that Emma Walton (ironic?) Hamilton, Julie Andrew's daughter, has agreed to be our editor. She edited her mom's outstanding memoir, "Home," so while you wait for "Mountain," I recommend you pick up this book about another woman who has led a fascinating life of integrity while entertaining and inspiring us all.
We appreciate everyone's support, encouragement and prayers as we work to make the book worthy of the legacy Earl began so many years ago, and that means so much to so many of us, and others around the world.
Bev (for Mary)

Woohoo! This is fantastic news. Congratulations to Mary and Bev. I know the book will interesting, insightful, and funny, just like you women! I can't wait to hear more of the behind-the-scenes stories from The Waltons, as well as more about Mary's life and the lesson she has learned. This just shows that if believe in yourself and persevere long enough, good things will happen!

I'm thrilled at this news, Mary and Bev!
By coincidence, a month ago, I read "Home" by Julie Andrews. It covers the early years of Julie's life, including when Julie was a child singer on stage in England, through her starring roles on Broadway as a young woman. The book stops there, and so a sequel must be planned.
I think Julie's daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, did a great job of editing her mother's book. I'm excited that Emma will be editing Mary's book.
Thanks for the great news, Bev and Mary ! Wendy
